There's a plant sale today, Friday, and Saturday at the Horticulture Bldg. at A&M. Proceeds support the Holilistic Garden behind the bldg.
Here's part of e-mail I received about sale....
We are having a plant sale this week, Aug. 3,4 and 5. The sale will be at the Horticulture Building, Room 110 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day.
We will be selling an assortment of herbs, well-adapted landscape plants that can still go into the garden in late summer, and a wide array of house plants. Some specific examples of plants for this sale include scented geraniums, coral bean, calathea, English mint, night blooming jasmine, chalice vine, clerodendron, salvia, passion vines, jatropha, orchid tree, orchids, almond verbena, cacti and other succulents, datura, assorted hanging baskets and many more. We will also have seedy characters, dish gardens, bottle gardens and other more novel items.
Plant sale at A&M
Yep! One of the benefits of being a student here at A&M.....the sales are right around the corner from me. :) I'll be hitting it up this afternoon!

Okay...was it worth going to? They always have these sales in conjunction with the Master Gardeners state rep mtgs. I used to get the neatest plants there. One Dec, they opened the greenhouse at our mtg's lunch break. We went nuts buying the coolest fancy poinsettias! The best sale is in March......
Alright.....so I didn't make it there yesterday...too much lab work to do (such is the life of a grad student). However, I will definitely get over there either this afternoon or tomorrow. The last one I went to I got a nice little haul.....some brugs and perennial hibiscus for my mom, a nice 3-4' banana for only $6...so I think it is definitely worth it.

'Better make it today....all those Master Gardeners are descending tomorrow!!!!
If they are out of something you know that you wanted, let me know the name. We sent 2 trucks up there, one Tues & one Wed. If the plant came fr us, I can probably get it for you here @ the Farm, if we aren't out.
Mum's the word. Don't want to take business fr the Hort Dept but don't want DGers doing without either.
Smockette......That's so nice of you! I, for one, appreciate that offer. I don't think I can care for one more plant this summer. I'm struggling to keep everything watered. Do you have a nursery in Magnolia? Retail? What kind of plants do you carry? We're always looking for another spot to check out when it cools down a bit. I still have some plants in the nursery pots that need to be in the ground. Just too hot and crowded in my backyard right now.
And my lips are sealed.....Sandi
