I got Dmail from her yesterday! I've been concerned, too, hoping that Lorry has just been busy, and it turns out that's the case! They had a lovely vacation, and now she is working long hours catching up on everything... sounds like she could use another vacation, LOL. Anyway, she is hoping to be back on DG more regularly again soon.

Jan, chat room also happens on Tuesday nights! :-) It starts at 6 (I think it started at 5 last winter) and goes until the last person turns out the light... The link from the home page goes away at 11 or 12, but you can get in through the back door, by using the chat URL, http://davesgarden.com/chat/

Hey, we got back on the topic of the chat room soon enough! I don't think a quick swing off topic is really a big deal, especially on chatty threads... my problem with O/T posts is that sometimes people bury useful cultural information or photos on unrelated threads, which makes it really hard to find again.
Well, now you've done it, LOL, now your thread is O/T on the subject of O/T posts! ;-)
Actually, there are usually multiple conversations going on at the same time in most chat rooms. Hard to keep up so I don't usually go. I used to breed birds and one site hosted a chat group but kept in breed specific on certain hours. I.E. parakeets 8-9pm, macaws 9-10pm, lovebirds 10-11pm. Exhibiting 11-12pm, etc. Different nights would host certain subjects. Many people flowed from one to the next but people stayed more on topic that way.

Makshi, maybe you should just click "unwatch" for this thread if the O/T stuff bothers you so much.... I think your original topic about why chat room was empty when you checked that morning has pretty much expired... that's why I didn't think the O/T comments were especially an issue. I'm sorry if you feel your thread has been taken over.
Maybe we'll get a good crowd in the chat room this coming Thursday morning! If there's nobody there when you check in, just cruise the forums and check back in 10 minutes... :-)
Jill I will just unwatch this whole forum from now on. Even I have feeling to hurt at times. Me complaining about it being taken over was in jest at first but now some have taken it over the limit for me.

Diane is very upset that we have continued to post off-topic on her thread. I'm puzzled also, as it seemed to me that the original topic of wondering why people weren't in the chat root that morning had pretty well expired anyway. I Dmailed her privately to apologize and to say that nobody had intended to step on her toes or to hurt her feelings.
Threads go O/T all the time on DG, and it's generally not viewed as a big deal as long as important information isn't being buried, either by being posted on a thread with a very different subject or by excessive "chatting" on threads that people want to refer back to for culture information etc. Makshi has such a wry sense of humor that I really did think she was joking until I got her Dmail earlier today.
Well I had not read past you dmailed Lorry and hope she was OK as we had not seen her for a long time. All I could think of was YES Lorry or anyone were missing was OK ! I went ASP and Posted I had heard from her. I did not even read the other postings . Then came back days later and saw what Diane posted then I read it all.
Well my Parents won't allow me to go into Chat rooms anyways.
You should see other Forums they take over the posting talk right around you and never answer or ackknowledge your even there.
I could go back to everyone of my threads I'm sure people changed the subject on each and everyone of them.
Oh well life is to short for me to worry about it.
