If any of you have trouble with mixing ya'll soil I have found a easy way..Those really huge zip lock bags come in handy I just add my different soil and sponge rock and fine orchid mix zip it up and start rolling the bag on the floor until it's mixed. The bags are very strong and theres a handle for easy moving..It has helped me out ..The ones that I use holds 4 cubic feet..

New way to mix my potting soil
Great idea Dianne! That has to beat bending over a large plastic tote up to my elbows in 'soil'! :~) -joanne
Terrific Idea, Dianne. I layer mine on a big table and then use a dustpan to shovel it around to mix it.... Yours sounds like a great (BETTER) alternative!!! I have heard of people dumping it all on an old showercurtain and then lifting the edges alternatively to mix it.... yours sounds easier!!!
Carol
Excellent idea. Maybe I'll get one of those giant zip-loc bags and do-up a big batch so I don't have to mess with the "recipe" each time I need to repot.
Thanks!!
Ann
That is a great idea too.
I use one of those "dog-food bins" that I got at Target many years ago. They stack, and have the opening door on the side sort of. Anyway, I have one sitting up on a raised stool right next to my potting bench, and it is just perfect for dumping in the various amounts of stuff and then using Ann W's great idea of an old potato masher to mix it all up. With the door closed on the bin it is even water proof, so great for an outside storage place.

Brilliant, Marcy!
I have some friends with a medium sized nursery: they bought a brilliantly painted yellow cement mixer....and that's what they mix their medium in. OH...I am SO jealous!!!!! No itchy arms from scooting the mix around.... UCK. And YELLOW!!!! It is beautiful!
Oh, wow, Carol. I would have never thought of that! Can they drag it over to your nursery every now and again?
