I will probably sleep in tomorrow...nothing until a nail appointment at 3:00....:)
I can't believe that at 55 I can still sleep until 10 or 11...anyone else?
THUSRDAY, Aug 3: Texas "Coffee" and Gardening in the Morning
Nope, not me. I guess I have always worked a early morning job and the body gets used to getting up at that time. I am 59 and will retire in 667 days, then we will see. I doubt it will change, I love the garden early in the morning. The air is fresher, the birds are active, new blooms are just opening, etc. After two or three hours of working in the yard I may return to the bed for a nap though. LOL!
No sleeping in at 56, the body parts won't let me... The mind says get up and get going.
I have to get going and get ready for that job now....catch you all later.
I'm sitting here in the heat, waiting for the air conditioning service to arrive with a new unit. I'm afraid if I work in the garden this morning and get too hot with no way to cool back down, my lupus would kick into overdrive. These auto-immune diseases are really stange with their heat intolerance. Guess I live in the wrong place to have heat intolerance, huh? Although, it seems it's been hitting the entire U.S. pretty bad this year.
Good morning --
I'm packing up to head to Georgetown for an unknown while. Am going to miss the garden and the puppers while I'm away, and I hope the visit there won't be too sad. The owners of the B&B where I'm staying are very kind, and I think that will help. Georgetown has been home to me, off-and-on, all my life.
Need to ferret out a Georgetown nursery that might have a perennial I can bring home to plant in my grandmother's honor. I have the list folks suggested in another thread, and hope to find at least one of them that will work.
Did a lot of planting yesterday -- was gifted with a new Japanese Maple, and also planted a new passiflora vine, some chocolate mint, and a menthol plant -- which is really strange but beautifully sculptural in appearance.
I *love* the chocolate mint. I think I could plant pots and pots of that and be pretty happy just sitting and sniffing. I'm going to go crush a leaf for my tea right now.
I'm 37 and I can definitely sleep in! LOL If the alarm doesn't go off I can easily sleep until 10 or 11 or..
Susannah, Puzzle is lovely. Thanks for sharing the picture and what she does! Does she get called out often?
Crowellli, I'm so sorry to hear about the lupus. :-(
I checked a book out of the library about veggie gardening in Houston. I'm not sure I have enough sun in the garden to grow anything, but I'd sure like to try this year. Maybe I should dig out a corner in the back yard instead... It gets a little more sun.
I've been talking about the dentist's appointment to Joy, so she at least knows that something is going to happen. We'll see how she reacts when the reality hits. She's been to the office before (Charles and I always schedule our appointments together and take turns sitting in the waiting room with the bunnies) and has even watched them cleaning Daddy's teeth, so it won't be totally strange to her.
I hope you all have a great Thursday!
Unfortunately, we get called out quite often -- particularly so in summer with boating and other water accidents/drownings. We've gone out three times in the past two weeks, so ... yes, there's a lot of search work out there in all seasons, driven by weather, human error, or sheer accident.
Have a safe and happy Thursday!
Hi ladies, just dropping in and will do so from time to time. I wish everyone a great day.
Connie, I wanted to drop in and tell you thank you for sending me key lime pie and a plant via Michelle when you had the lunch at your house. I really enjoyed it and my manners have been terrible....I am sorry for not thanking you before now. Your pie was excellent and very tasty! Thanks for thinking of me. I hope to see you again soon.

I am still disappointed that I missed out on the key lime pie! However, Robert had a checkup this morning and just a month after a heart attack and angioplasty and two months after a stroke, he is doing very well and almost back to normal. (If any of us are ever normal after a certain age. lol)
Connie, one advantage of teaching Spanish was that kids enjoyed picking a Spanish name to use in class. I could limit how many Catarinas or Juans there were in the class, and most preferred to have unique names given the chance.
Time to water a few pots outside and think about starting lunch. Everyone enjoy the day and stay cool!
That's funny about the names. My real name is Lynea (and yes, your pronouncing it wrong, lol) I would LOVE to have a common name. My first day of second grade I remember the teacher saying " I'm to call roll, let me know what you would like to be called" I told her her I wanted to be called "Kelly".Anywho.... Two days later she called my mother and the jig was up...back to Lynea.
Whooo Hoooo! I have a/c again! I'm a happy woman! Too hot to hit the garden right now, but maybe this afternoon, now that I have a way to cool back off.
Hi all!! I've "cleaned" for the cleaning ladies (I'm going to try having someone 2x/month this year for the first time in about
10 years! ) Since I now have a cat...will need help with the hair as I'm allergic...I know...should have gotten a Mexican hairless but this is the one DH wanted! :)
