New issue of Fraterna arrived

Chowchilla, CA(Zone 10a)

I got my new issue of Fraterna yesterday, and I have read it cover to cover already.

I first want to say that this issue is outstanding! I also want to compliment the very clear effort that was taken to include both the scientific language and the more "common" language together in many of the articles. This allows proper terminology to be used, as well as allows us newbies to learn the higher-level language without having our eyeballs roll into the back of our heads.

I also have a new "must have" for my wish list: Hoya vanuatuensis T. Green

OK, I'm ready for my next issue ;-)

NOW who's jealous? ....raises hand here...Ha Ha
Everybody else always gets their Fraterna before me. :-(
Makes me pace the floor waiting for the mailman every day.
I just love the new ones & always read them all too.
Well, at least I know it is coming soon now.

When Ted was here yesterday he talked about naming one...but I forgot which one he was talking about???? We talked about so many things... Gotta ask him and then run out to the GH and change all the tags!!!!

We really had fun with Ted and Dorothy! Totally interesting - can't wait for the next time we all get together...

I am with you Marcy...mine comes via boat...so it is usually 4 weeks later that mine gets here...by then it is all OLD news!

Darn.

Actually, mine gets to me last, as far as I can tell. Last time I called Ann Wayman finally, after 4 weeks, and she very nicely sent me a new one. The original arrived about a week and a half later, almost 6 weeks! New meaning to the term 'snail mail'.

I am signing up tomorrow! Is there any way to get back issues? -joanne

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

YES!!! You can get back issues....just write to Ann Wayman.

Chowchilla, CA(Zone 10a)

Joanne, send her an e-mail at hoochymama007@hotmail.com and make sure to put in the subject line "Fraterna" so she'll know what the e-mail's about.
Ann

I got mine yesterday too!! I agree, great edition, and H.vanuatuensis is so beautiful - a must-have.

I got mine too! I'm a new subscriber but I'm LOVING the pictures and the info. But I've been out of town and haven't had a chance to read it yet....

Long Beach, CA

Still searching the mailbox everyday with anticipation, but no luck here either.

OK, I want all those frowny-faces to turn upside down in three months when the new edition arrives.

So, I am taking a vow to not excitely blurt that I got mine and make everyone else feel a sense of deprivation - after I have had it for a week - then I'll kick up my proverbial heels in the happiest of dances.

I forget that I live 100 miles from Annie, so I get mine really quick, while everyone else's is a little slower 'cause it's mailed media mail.

Good thing mail's not arriving on horseback any more (although it sometimes seems like it!).

I am still waiting for mine. :((((((((((

O.K. A plea for patience.
I take them to the printers. They kind of use our little piddly thing to do when they run out of the million dollar stuff that is their money makers. I try my best to get them there in a timely manner but remember, I'm only one person working alone and even when I have other writers, I still have to format all the layouts and get them to a stage where I think they look decent enough to go out to our members before I will ever call them finished and ready to print. I know none of you would be happy with a slap dash rendition just so I could say it was done for the quarter. All the mail (including the foreign mail) goes out the same day. It is mailed bulk rate, and bulk rate mail is usually the last things that are delivered. Bulk rate mail in rural areas and sometimes not so rural areas are never taken to a destination until they have a full bag of mail to go to that place. When the magazines were being printed in San Diego (actually Vista, Calif.) I often wouldn't get my copy until 3 weeks or so later, but late or not, I always got it.
Please give the U.S. mail enough time before writing for another copy, but please inform me at the above e mail address if you haven't received your Fraterna within a few weeks after you hear that others have already gotten theirs. It will put me on alert and I can then inform our membership secretary.
Thanks for your ear
Annie W.

Annie...you do a great job!!! It is our USPS that needs some work...unfortunately it is all we have at the moment!!!

Bless you for getting them out, Annie! That is alot of work for one person. Most people would have thrown in the towel. I have earned a great deal of respect for editors of publications like Fraterna and Hobby Greenhouse Association after serving on the HGA board. The editors are most definately the backbone of the organization. Hats off to you for your continued effort!

Brownsville, KY(Zone 6a)

My issue arrived on Saturday. I enjoyed reading the article about Paul Shirley.

Long Beach, CA

I STILL haven't got mine. I wonder if it could have just got lost in the mail or something?

TUCSON, AZ(Zone 9a)

I still don't have mine. I am wondering if my subscription ran out? I am so good at for getting things like that. Dose any one know how I can check it? :(((((((

San Francisco, CA

Marcy, I have recieved this issue, but my last one arrived over a MONTH after it was sent out. Still, I did get it. It would be nice if they all arrived a bit closer together, it makes discussion dificult when the material is so spread out time-wise. Such is USPS.

Priest River, ID

Binky if you give me your full name I will check the records and let you know if you and when you are due to repay for your Fraterna...Sandy

TUCSON, AZ(Zone 9a)

You have email !! Thanks Sandy

TUCSON, AZ(Zone 9a)
