Love your plumie jungle, Michael! Thanks for sharing all those pics!
Ouch! Sorry about your inflo breaking in half, Michael! If you stick it in water, will it continue to bloom if you put the vase outside?
Im over it lol!!
All the little stems broke off, it was a heavy hit.
I cant wait for all my Slaughter pink varieties to bloom.
They are terrific!!
So what do you do come winter? Being from WV I know how brutal the winters can be back east. Do you have a greenhouse? Or do you bring them into the garage or house and let them go dormant?
I have always turned the basement into a greenhouse.
My son has that area now for a bedroom.
The home shall look like a botanical garden this winter heh.....
Mike lol how do you find the time and energy for all that..
Great job!!
Thanks man,
BUT ...Please don ask that!! LOL!!
Im returning to college in Sept and I wont have time to spit.
Im an A+ student and very hard on myself to succeed.
The winter conversion comes at a very inconvenient time.
Thank God my wife and 2 boys are very helpful.
My best friend Micah also helps me.
Edited to add:
BTW Lopaka,
It was your request for pics that inspired my doing this thread lol!
I also have one in the cactus and succulent forum showing all my cacti
http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/634769/
Enjoy!!

Great pictures. Shows how you can still have plants even without a yard. Very creative.
Tami
Thanks Tami! ;^)
In past years I would put up to 60 pots on top of my flat kitchen roof and do peppers and tomatoes there.
My health over the last 2 years made this impossible.
Im on the mend so I may need to retruss the roof like a deck lol!!
WOW!! Love your plumie haven!! Great bloom pics too!!
You are a great gardener, Michael, and very creative and hard-working. I know you will make it work this winter, even without the full use of your basement! Your son may have to share his new room!
Hey Mike what do your neighbors say?
I wish the neighbor across from me would do that all i see is weeds and they still have the shutters up from wilma not to mention debris is still on their roof..
I wish they move i am getting tired of looking at sanford and son...
Great job again man..
Most folks admire it all
My next door nieghbor is an @$$hole supreme
I literally hate the guy.
He is a miserable, mean, spiteful, rotten, S.O.B
Twice he has broken a plumie on me.
My plants dont hang over onto his property or onto the common strip
But he shows no concern with the fact that these are my property
Once decided he didnt like where one was out front and slid it hard across the patio, it broke a branch off.
Today He is moving to another home YAY!!
In his hurry to empty the house he scraped a washing machine up against one of my prize seedlings from Noams India Nursery seed collection, broke another branch.....
I hope he slips and breaks an ankle
What a total jerk...
I saw the branch and went out to tie them all back so thered be more room for him.
He asked me to wait till he was done....
I said " im tying them back so you dont break any more of them, this is a new cultivar worth more than $500.- and you broke it"
He responds with "oh well what do you want me to do?"
Id like to tell him oh yeah.... a fights brewing here man...
If im patient senoir peckerhead will become someonelses problem soon and be gone from my life.
I cant stand inconsiderate people, he is this way about everything.
He actually complained to my wife when got a handicaped parking spot out front!
He parks right up on my bumper when he can.
I have 3 vehicles and could easily park one in front of him when he does this so he is trapped
Im just not a prick like this waste of space is.
OOPS am I venting? Sorry..... a lil off topic eh? Or maybe no, I was responding to a question.
It all makes me want a nice piece of property where the nieghbors wont be near my trees dangit!!
Michael,
I'm so sorry...that's beyond frustrating!! You wonder about some folks, don't you? The only way I console myself about people like that is to remind myself they have to live with their ugly selves 24/7!!! How miserable would that be?!!! Still never nice to damage other folks property!! I know how annoyed I get with my neighbor's dog when she's tied out front and dig and/or chews on my plants...another reason to put the agave and cacti out there...LOL
Oh, Chantell! Think about the poor dog that's tied up. That's surely not fun for a dog. Get mad at the neighbor, not the dog:-( Maybe you could ask the neighbor to put up a fence to make both you and the dog happy.
Clare,
You know I'm an animal person. The dog's wasn't left out there for more then 15 -20 min at a time and honestly hasn't been for months. We're in townhouses...neighbor's BACK yard is fenced in, I have no earthly idea why they were putting her out front for bits of time during the spring!! Believe me...I WAS annoyed with the neighbor - not so much the dog...this had been a repeat happening. I made it clear to her that cactus and agave/yucca were replacing my grass in front and it was not animal/kid friendly. Plus my 14 year old son is friends with her son...and I think, with all the tact of a 14 year old male, he told her son that I was not pleased about the plants/bulbs being chewed/dug up. As I've said...it's not been an issue for a few months.
;-)
