anyone have any luck treating european ginger that has fungus?

Raleigh, NC(Zone 7b)

Take off all the infected leaves and throw away, then spray with Daconil and a surfactant ( if you have one) and keep the leaves as dry as you can. I am assuming this is a foliar fungus? If not, then the treament is different.

I have two well-established ginger plants that have grown vigorously in the shade for four years. This spring, some of the leaves and stems on one of the plants became black and gooey. I removed the affected portions of the plant, and new leaves began to grow up from the roots. The plant is growing slowly but steadily. I didn't even think to throw the blackened foliage away, I just dropped it onto the ground! I never heard of Daconil or surfactant. Zone 5A.

As you may have guessed, I am a novice gardener and new subscriber to davesgarden.com
