Basil - Sweet Aussie

Sugar Land, TX(Zone 9a)

Hey, I just picked up a Basil plant the other day, it says it's a "Sweet Aussie." I haven't seen this one before.

Any comments on this cultivar? Should I do anything different than any other Basil? I've got it out in full sun, as I know Basil is a sun-lover.

I had some last year. I also had it in full sun and it thrived, just make sure it doesn't get too dry.

Thanks for the info! This variety supposedly doesn't flower and get woody with age, at least not for a long time.

I saw a post on another forum that theirs didn't bush out - it grew straight up on one stalk, and they had trouble harvesting because of it.

Did you have that problem?

If I remember correctly mine didn't get very bushy either and I was trying real hard to get it to do so because I was trying to root pieces. I didn't want it to flower so I was pinching it back, but it did get quite tall. I'm not sure what the solution to that is. There is a book on growing basil that I checked out last year at the library, it's by Tom Debaggio. It had some very interesting infomation, maybe you could check it out and see if it has some tips for you. Let me know if you can't find the name and I'll try to find it.
