Look at my pond. I have kept 3 pots in. Two having the pink waterlily bulbs and one has blue waterlily bulbs. They have been there for a year and seem to be doing well. No day has gone by without at least one blue or pink flower for the past 3 months now. I'm enjoying it from outside as much as the fish in the pond. I have a question. I had somewhere read that there should be some area on the surface where leaves should not be covered. Is that true? If so, how much area should be approximately left uncovered by leaves. I have hundreds of tadpoles and a plant that is pictured in the next post. Water is crystal clear.

Pond covered with lily leaves.....
I also want to know this plant's name. I understand this is a good oxygenator. It has grown abundantly and I remove some of them often. String algae was a problem before this grew well, but now, this seems to have overtaken that to a great extent. I also remove most of the strings in bunches pulling them from the bottom where they settle with their weight. But it grows back.
Hi Dinu,
I have never heard there is a rule to not have all the water covered just that you should have at least two thirds of the water covered by the plants so algae growth will not be such an issue. I can see plenty of open water in your pond picture there so wouldn't worry about it.
If you post a little clearer pic of your oxygenator plant I will try to ID it for you. I can't tell for sure what it is.

Thanks Ponditis. Will try and get a better shot.
