Exotic Angel plants near you

Mt Zion, IL(Zone 5b)

Have you guys seen this yet? http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/631867/
Its a link to EA website ~ you can enter your zip code to find stores near you that stock EA plants AND get email notifications when a store near you gets a shipment (Ann - I thought of you!!)!!!
I know there is frustration with the way EA names their hoyas and but that hasn't kept me from scooping up any EA hoyas I find at the box stores.
Anyways.....just thought others of you would like to see this.

Thanks for that info, Betsy. It will no doubt help others, however when I entered my zipcode....nada.....even for a HUNDRED miles....no stores near me, :-(
No WONDER I have trouble finding them. Ha. Altho...I did find a couple at a Stater Bros. grocery store. I wonder why that store wasn't listed? Oh well, nice thought anyway.

Thanks Betsy! That is way neato!!!
Speaking of EA plants, my multiflora has been attempting to take over the entire window, so I sucked it up and trimmed. Here is a photo before it's haircut. I am going to attempt to root the cuttings in water, and whatever survives I'll see if folks want. I have to say, it hurt to trim it. It made me feel really good how huge it got - I rather liked its "large presence," but limited space ...

Wow, nice healthy plant Ann. Oh I bet it just killed ya to trim her. Just remember how nice and full she will get from her hair cut... Your plants all look really great.

Thanks for the link Betsy, I need to go and check it out.. And then beg them to bring them in.. :)

Walhalla, SC(Zone 7a)

Kewl link Betsy! I signed up lets see if it works! Beautiful Healthy plants Ann! I want a Multiflora! Betsy was sweet enough to send me a cutting, so i cant wait until it gets big like yours!

Murrells Inlet, SC(Zone 8a)

Good luck getting any notification from them!!!

I signed up for this option months ago. I happen to know for a fact that both of my home depot stores as well as both lowes stores have received at least 2 new shipments each from EA and i've yet to hear a word from them letting me know that new plants have arrived at my stores.

None of the newer hoya varieties have been in any of those shipments though.

Mt Zion, IL(Zone 5b)

Oh phooie - I hate to hear that Michael because I signed up when I found this link. Well, we'll see how it goes.....

Walhalla, SC(Zone 7a)

Awh Darn, i was hoping this would work too. I guess its back to checking the stores once a week...

Los Angeles, CA(Zone 9a)

Hi all, been awhile. I actually signed up for this a little over a month ago, and never received any notifications either. However, they plan on setting it up so you can order direcrtly from their website. I was concerned because they didn't show any available in California zipcodes. I emailed them and within a few days, I received the email about direct shipping. Yipee for all of us! Sorry I haven't been around lately. Trying to check in when time permits.

Hi Heather!
How's the adjustment coming? Hope all's well!

Seriously?
You mean that they're going to do 'retail mail order' from their website?

Wouldn't that be great!

Mesa, AZ(Zone 9a)

I sure hope they start selling online! Of course I guess Tami and I could drive 500 miles to the nearest Lowe's that sells EA. Hey Tami you ready for a rode trip????

Blessings,
Awanda

I spoke directly to an EA rep on the phone a little over a month ago and I was told that within the next 2 months, which should now be within the next month that they would in fact be set up to take orders direct from the public.

I periodically check the webpage to see if they have begun this yet or not but havent noticed that they have.

Has anyone ever asked them directly or in email correspondance about their soil, and if they ever plant to change it or leave out the wetting agents?

Road Trip??? I'm getting better at them !!! YIPPEE... Can Kermit take us??? :) That is going to be really neat if they do mail order. There is another nursery hoping to be online soon for your ordering pleasure.... I received 4 from her yesterday.

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

A dumb question.....without 'looking it up'....is longifolia the same as shepherdii?
Cuz your longifolia is *fabulous*, Tami...... and if it's not the same....I need one just like it, LOL!!!!

Thanks for the verification on EA's online sales.....that's the best news I've heard in a long time.
If they plan to sell retail online....I'll just be all set!! (I collect and covet more than just hoyas!)

I received an EA H. lacunosa from Sandy and it really went downhill fast.... But I yanked it, then washed all the soil off and repotted it and while it stuttered and sputtered for a while, it is now a lovely lovely plant!!! None around here...too far to swim to one!

Prescott, AZ

Nan, I have read that they are different. I think if I get this straight, the longifolia having longer leaves. But I'm not sure about that. The flowers are a different color as well. I'm not sure of the ID on this one and will wait until it blooms.

check out the hoyas on this site. If your plants came from here like my supposed H phyllura did then you most likely have cinnimomifolia. Or at least that's what mine turned out to be.

David

Prescott, AZ

Oh I have never heard of this nursery. How much are there hoya's? Do they ship to Arizona? I have cinnimomifolia and the leaves don't look like it. Did you order other hoya's from them, and were they correctly ID? Thanks for the link, I best go check them out.

Murrells Inlet, SC(Zone 8a)

They dont list any prices and the few plants I have of theirs came from a local nursery. Witts is out of florida but the husband of Mrs witt drives to this area once every other month or so and brings plants to some local places.

Prescott, AZ

I noticed they didn't list any prices. There plants look nice though, some of them are mislabled.

Central Point, OR

Tammy and David; I just checked out the link for Witt's Nursery. I see not just some but many of their plants are mislabeled. The plants in these photos do look healthy though. so that's a plus. I agree with David. I think their version of phyllura is actually H. cinnamomifolia. The story behind the phyllura mix up was because Ted Green collected a plant that he thought matched the description of phyllura. From what I understand Christine Burton convinced him that it wasn't phyllura and didn't seem to match any hoya description that we had in the literature, so after several years of growing the plant we now know as H. clemensiorum, Ted decided to make it legal and published it under that name. H. clemensiorum by the way is the most stunningly beautiful leaf in all of the hoya kingdom. The blooms are long lasting and also gorgeous. It may be one of the best bloomers also.

The leaves on witts phyllura dont even come close to resembling anything like the one in your photo Annie.

my plant has bloomed and is indeed H cinnimomifolia.

If you look back through the threads i've started over the past few years, look for the ones that say hoyas, you should be able to find a nice picture of my plant.

Their plants are nice and healthy and some can be bought on ebay right now but as you all said a number of them are clearly mislabled.
