Sinningia- -I am almost sure

Westport, CT

OOPPS....Am new to this and thought I had posted the first message correctly but now see I did not. THis looks right to me now!! So much to learn and so little time!

I had this plant inside for a couple of years. It was a nice houseplant, but when we put it outdoors, it bloomed beautiful PURPLE flowers - not blue as the picture shows. The flowers look to be "trailing". I am almost positive that it is a Sinningia after finally finding this site. Please advise. Thanks!!! Barbara

hi and welcome!

That is a Streptocarpus, in particular of the subgenus Streptocarpella. Most people would refer to it as a Streptocarpella to make it clear that is is a type of streptocarpus with stems.

It is very possibly the hybrid/cultivar Concord Blue which is circulating widely, but I couldn't say for sure. http://gesneriads.ca/strepto8.htm

THANKS Keyring!!! I really appreciate your reply as it has been "driving me crazy" to identify it. Also thanks for the welcome. I know I am going to love this site! (I already do)

Welcome Plantsforfun!

I am thinking the same as keyring....Streptocarpella. Lovely shade of flower...never seen one as big as that though.

TFS!

Joanne
