Can anyone recommend good nursery/greenhouse in the Northern VA area that specializes in tropicals? Someplace that might carry some of the more unusual and named plants. I have been to Merrifield and they have a good variety but little out of the ordinary; I am looking for the sort of place a collector would hang out. Thanks

There used to be a nursery in Fairfax called Kenny Roberts that had a huge greenhouse full of all kinds of tropical plants. I don't know what happened to them - there's now a restaurant on the land where their shop used to be. Maybe someone who lives up that way can tell you if they just closed or if they relocated.
This isn't much help, but that's the only place I've been into in NoVa that had a lot of tropicals.
Abernathys (sp?) in Lincoln Va.... near Purcellville has lots of neat stuff, I found a beautiful bougainvialla for my mother there last spring. There's a place out on Rt 7 west of Tysons that had tropicals, don't remember the name though... on the left side if you're traveling west.
