Taken from ravaging the parsley plants, went into a cocoon and then came out of the jar one day, dried its wings and enchanted us for an hour, then effortlessly lifted off on a breeze sailed up high and over the pines and was gone. Was very interesting for me and the kids to observe the metamorphasis. They had a new perspective about random sqaushing caterpillars.

The sharing of your beautiful photo .. which appears to be the Black Swallowtail (Papilio polyxenes) surely needs to be entered into the Bug Files database, ya know!

It is wonderful when we witness nature 'first hand'. Lends a whole new twist, and the appreciation of the sanctity of life .. and how truly short it is.

I want to thank you, for your post here - for it brought about the needed attention to my wee GOOF, which is now 'fixed'! I'd placed the 'right' butterfly under the 'right' name, but I'd labeled my description 'wrong'. (LOL)
