Morning!

Wow that is prettier than mine is....mine is a lot smaller too. How old is yours? I will send a photo of mine along.

Mine is in a 2.5 inch pot and has been there forever...maybe I should repot it.

TFS!

Joanne yours may be small but it sure looks healthy!

Hello aprilwillis and orkidlady.

I'm not an expert of Gesneriads at all so I have only this one and some AVs. AVs are getting tired because of the summer heat now. I think Sinningia is more tolerant of heat and thrive in brighter place than AV.

Hi April,

Oh it is healthy but small, not sure if they are a small variety or not but goldenfish's is so gorgeous!

Yes, different is always nice, unless you are no one told you that sushi is raw fish! LOL.
It's got those fuzzy, velvety leaves and nice orange flowers, Not sure what attracted me most the fuzzy grey green leaves or the orange flowers. Thank.

This was it when I got it- so cool.

Hello April,
Oh your Sinningia canescens is very gorgeous! That new little shoot give fine testimony to the bulb as healthy. I heard that the best time to repot it is November to December. Good luck!

Missouri City, TX(Zone 9a)

Thank you goldenfish! It wasn't doing anything for quite a while and I was really worried about it then suddenly it sent up that nice little shoot!

Silver Spring, MD

Very nice. Thanks

*THUD*

passing out right along with MsC!

Those are some gorgeous photos of really fabulous plants!

I have a 'Blue something' episcia... might be 'Blue Heaven' or 'Blue Nile'... I will have to check to see if I kept the cup it came in, as I seem to have neglected to put a tag in its new pot! But it is doing well. I moved the episcias to the master bathroom shelf, and they seem to like the bright light there, just to one side of a big south window. They have wet gravel under them for humidity and are wicked or in self watering pots... they seem to respond well to constant moisture.

Jill I did notice that my E Pink Acajou likes a bit more water than most of my AVs. I have said it before and will say it again, there is no shortage of beautiful gessies! and no shortage of those I want! LOL.

Sinningia......I am pretty sure, now that I joined this fantastic site!! I had this in my home for a few years and it was just a green leafed houseplant, but then we put it outside for the first time and I got these beautiful flowers. They are really purple not blue as the picture shows. Please let me know exactly what this is. Thanks in advance!!!! Barbara

I have no idea what that lovely plant is! But I am sure that someone w/ lots more experience will know.
Key, Allison, MsC, Critter...oh my gosh feel as though if I don't list all those who know I will offend someone- and I don't mean to do so. If you don't get an answer from someone smarter than me, re post this as a new thread in this forum with picture. Title the thread something like Identification please. Trust me we cannot help ourselves we are drawn to those sorts of requests like moths to a flame.

Oh and welcome to the AV forum. Nice bunch of folks here, think you will like them.
My younger brother was born in Stamford and I have my earliest memories there. Spent quite some time in New England and the Northeast, miss it terribly.

Hello plantsforfun,
I think your lovely plant is Streptocarpus but I can't identify the cultivar.

Anyway, you were smart to set it out. It's in full bloom now! Very beautiful.
Congratulations!!
