i thought i could grow 'em here but my texas buddies assure me i can not. i bought them from big dipper nursery. they are in 4 inch pots and some are smaller. they range in size from 3-4 inches to 6-8 inches. all appear healthy and i really want to keep them. i love them but i don't want to kill them so i would like to trade for plants that are more practical for my area. i couldn't just buy one. i had to have 8. so here is the list.
gartenmeister bonstedt
swingtime
pink marshmallow
neon tricolor
lady thumb
firecracker
double otto
blue eyes
regia
i would really like coneflowers, like sunrise/sunset and some others......not the purple or white unless it's that doppelganger (whatever) one.
salvias i don't have.
vines that i don't have but are hardy to zone 8.
asclepsia....white or pink
named iris.
hardy hibiscus that i don't have.....esp. yellow ones or plum crazy
i need some yellow plants....hardy to zone 8.
baptisia.....yellow or white
agastache (hyssop) ....orange or red ones
prob. any perennial that is hardy to zone 8. i have a weakness for red.
drought tolerant, heat loving plants look good too right now.
thanks for looking. barb
and i can't count...........that's nine i HAD to have.
CLOSED: HAVE: EIGHT VARIETIES OF HARDY FUCHSIA
I have scarlet bee balm and blanket flower or yellow four o'clock(Perennial) that hold up well in full sun and heat. I would be interested in trading for the gartenmeister bonstedt to grow as a houseplant. Lou
I'd be interested in pink marshmallow
I'm not real familar with whats hardy in zone 8
I have a rooted cutting of Thunbergia ......now I can't remember the name....begins with a B, battiscom or something......
also trying to root a variegated pandorea....
have red beebalm.....
something someone called Firespike.....neat red flowers....seems to like shade
cleo canna......
oops...forgot I have butterfly weed "ice ballet" (white)

Obviously I don't live in TX but have you considered trying them in the ground? I killed all of the fuschias I had in pots but when I planted one in the ground it survived 107 degree heat, low humidity and 100 inches of rain during the winter. Otherwise, wish I had something you want. I'd love to try more.
I love that big dipper nursery, I've ordered alot from them
well, yeah xanadu.........that was what i thought i would do since the tag said zn. 8-10, some were zone 7-10. i got them to put in the ground. but i got on the texas forum and NO texan has reported being able to grow these things outside here. they said it was the heat but i wondered if it was the moisture level the plants needed that we couldn't attain here. but shade here is not like real shade either. and just curious but where are you or where did you grow this plant and what happened to it?
maybe i should keep one and put it in the ground just to see for myself. one lady has a different variety than any of mine. she has it in a pot that she moves around i think to keep it shaded. her plant is doing great she says. but it's in a pot and i just can't do any more potted plants especially a finicky one.
maybe i will research this more and maybe i will just take a chance on keeping at least one of them here just to see. at least you have given me some hope. thanks. barb
after talking to several folks from the pacific nw i have decided to give most of these fuchsia a shot. thanks for all of your interest but i really wanted these plants. i am sorry to disappoint but maybe if i can grow them i can root some cuttings next year. wish me luck. barb
