I've posted this on the ID forum....but thought perhaps a fellow Texan may recognize this. I've searched thru my Tx Natives references Thanks! Lee
Butterfly Pea? Any Texans familiar with this Vine/flower?
I can't see the leaves well enough to judge if its clitoria ternatea. I grow the double blue and the double white and have a pink variety growing too. They are annuals and some are in full shade and others morning sun, afternoon shade. I'm trying one in full sun but it hasn't been there long enough for me to make a judgement on.
There is a native vine (I think it's native) with butterfly in the name because the seed pods resemble a butterfly in shape. The name of that one evades me right now but I'm sure someone will come along that knows it. I would love to grow it; but have never gotten viable seeds. Anyone out there that has some?
Do your leaves look like this pic?

I believe this is Centrosema virginianum having looked at the plant file....I don't know how to create a hyperlink... or else I would ( I'm relatively new in DG)
Thanks Debbie! Lee

Josephine.
Definitely Centrosema virginianum, as Willis first said. http://davesgarden.com/pf/showimage/33901/
I can only say with such confidence because I spent way too many hours investigating the identification of what I now know is Clitoria mariana last year. Here is a picture of the difference between the genus Clitoria & Centrosema. The picture on the right is of Centrosema viginianum. http://davesgarden.com/forums/fp.php?pid=1798944
Great information Stacey, thank you very much.
Yes,...without a doubt! Thanks to everyone with input & guidance! Lee
