I divided this one so I had some extra little plants to give to friends and this one is just starting to fill out again. The pictures are coming out a bit blue but the flowers are more lavendar. I'm pretty sure that it is S. Rubicola but not positive because I rescued it from a slow death by my dad after my mom died. So I never did get to make sure the name tag on the bottom of her pot did match. Even if it's not the right name I still love the little flower that almost float.

I had to add another just because our fat cat is napping behind the main picture.

Beautiful plant Jess ! Does look like it could be ;
S. rupicola (S 10) 1964 (B. Burtt) Single light-medium blue, three or more per peduncle. Light-medium green, heart-shaped, soft, smooth, glossy, velvety/light back. Leaves sometimes thick. Multi-crowned standard or bushy trailer. Saintpaulia species
Reminded me of Pixie Blue also .
Pixie Blue (2598) 09/16/1974 (L. Lyon) Single purple-blue/darker center. Plain, ovate. Miniature trailer

Hi Purple Petal,

I have Pixie Blue and the flowers are quite small on it so if the flowers are quite small...could be it. I will take a photo of mine.

Hope this will help...my leaves are serrated too.

Gee whiskers...no pun intended...LOL! The flowers look huge in my photo...but they are quite small and dainty and they just sit up above the foliage looking so pretty.

Joanne, the flowers in your picture look exactly like mine. The color matches perfectly. Both descriptions that Violet_Treasure gave match. I've never had an av that is so bushy and I had a few trailers before. This one doesn't keep a center crown at all where on my trailers I can have a few separate crowns. This just has leaves everywhere, which is one of the things I love about it.

Thank you for all of the help id'ing this guy. I have two others from my mom and I know one was misnamed. It had Dancin' Trail on the pot but the flowers don't look similar to pictures online. The other was definitely Chirita Tamiana which has been the envy of just about everyone who comes over. At least I now know that the name for this one was close.

That is Petey and he maybe fluffier in person...errr cat. He's a sweetie though. I've had him since he had just opened his eyes when I fostered him, his mom and his brother. Amazingly he was the runt of the litter and he had damaged back legs. And since I'm a sucker I couldn't resist keeping him. He has made up for being small in the beginning though. He would eat constantly if we let him and he's begging for food even now as I type.

Hi Jess,

Well it is a pretty violet just the same....I love my Pixie Blue. A friend gave me three cuttings and I put them into a four inch pot and they have done very well. I just got it. The only thing I don't like about it, is when I go to remove spent blossoms, they don't want to let go. I pulled one off today and it pulled a leaf off with it.

Great AV and kitty!

Don, thank you.

I've noticed that this plant always just drops the petals sometimes even a bit before they're completely spent. The flower stalks (peduncle) always hold on a bit tight.

I always thought that the genetics of these plants would be incredible interesting to learn. I really need to get a good book on it and just take the time.

PurplePetal it is genetics of single sticktite flowers to drop.
I grew several Pixie Blue's always one of my favorite trailers. I gave them to Mom and elderly friends as they were always easy to grow and bloom in natural light were ever they placed them in order for them to see and enjoy !
