lavender cuttings????

Hi!

How do i make lavender cuttings? My lavender has lots of new growth at the moment. Do I take it with a heel? What type of compost do i use? Do I cover the cuttings with a plastic bag?

I took a lot of cuttings in the spring and just took a cutting about a 3-4" long and stripped the lower leaves and dipped it in rooting hormone and stuck it in potting soil. Some I kept covered and some I didn't and they all did well.

I was planning to layer it since I have a couple of "prime candidates" for layering anyway. I might try cuttings and layerings to see which works best. I'll keep you posted with any results, assuming I get to this. (A gardener's work is never done...) :)
