Coloring on leaves

Westminster, CO(Zone 5a)

I was recently recieved a plant, AV to care for. My friend Hollys' Mom passed away in Sept of last year and this July went to Oregon to pick up the things her Mother left for her.

The AV looks like a regular standard and had some faded blooms, (purple?) and appears in good condition but the leaves look weird to me.

Either they are varigated unlike what I have seen before or, after perusing leaf problems in the sticky, either have water spoting or need additional nutreints.

Wish I could send in a picture but haven't figured out how to work it w/one hand yet.

The leaves are healthy green except there are yellow areas which are not blotches but more
like a roadmap.

I haved looked at them under a magnifying glass and cannot see any pesties.

Can someone help? Please don't tell me I have to toss it.

Is the yellowing along the leaf veins? If so, it could be a mineral/nutrient problem.
Yellowing can also be a sign of scale - when you checked for bugs, did you check the leaf stems as well?

Thank you for responding.
The color does not follow the veins at all, usually across the leaf.

Checked the leaf stem as well. Cannot find any critters on the plant at all.

There is a virus that causes this. I saw information about it on an other group. I'll see if I can find the info with pictures.
Your markings are right on the leaf correct ? Not the stems.

Westminster, CO(Zone 5a)

Yes, they are on the leaves, not the stems.

If it is a virus I guess I'll have to toss it eh?

From all the info I've looked at during my search, I'm gonna keep the plant away from the others and see what happens.

I'm leaning toward a virus that may be the cause.

Thanking all of you who posted.

For sure keep it away from others; if its away from the rest you can see what it's going to do- maybe virus but maybe just interesting variegation!

I'm still searching ..wish you had a picture

Sorry I can't furnish a picture right now. The house is upside down, making room for extra furniture! I cannot hardly walk through it!!!!

I think leaf miners might also cause "roadmap" yellow markings. Isolation is definitely needed, "just in case." That will let you do what you can to revive the plant without risking any others. Good luck!

Thank you, I bet I'm gonna need it!

There is this leaf virus that does this I read it on an other group and thought I saved it but have not fount it yet. I'd isolate .
