Passion Flower Vine

Dublin, TX(Zone 8a)

My front porch is covered in the most aromatic blooms from my Passion Vine right now that I had to share ~ ~ ~ ~ Also, I do have a question about cuttings or seeds. I want to be able to share with friends and family but I am unsure how to gather the seeds or unsure how to start cuttings. Can anyone help?

HAHAHA! let me tell you that these guys throw off suckers/runners/plants like there is no tomorrow. My daughter is hated by all of her neighborhood as they now have Passion Vine Insence (SP) and even mine that I got from her, while growing originally in the shade has sent runners all over the place!
When you find one of those runners (I believe they are runners) just dig it up and pass it along. These guys are pretty hardy.

Thanks for the "heads up". I sure don't want it to take over! I'll start digging any runner that comes along and send it on its way!

Wow I wish I could say I have this problem. Never seen a runner from my passion vines. I would be willing to send postage for runners if either of you are interested in sending one my way.

After reading april's post about runners this morning, I went and looked and sure enough! I do have several coming up in various places all in bad spots because my hubby will MOW right over them this weekend! E-yikes! No telling how long they have been attempting to come up and getting mowed over time after time..................lolololol. Who knew. Marie, yes I would be glad to send you a few runners. Just send me a SASBE or just postage and I'll box up, which ever way you prefer. Glad to share!

thanks for the info April. I spotted 2 small runners yesterday but thought it might be bird present lol. Funny they are only about 5" apart but abot 3 feet from the tree I have the inscence growing. I better dig them before DH mows them lol

Belinda after I posted that I thought well maybe not everybody has the same problem! Maybe I should not have been so blunt. Now I am laughing because I see that you have the same problem that I do.

Where mine grows it is not too likely to bother folks except for one neighbor who has made it clear that he's not fond of what I have planted. The landlord planted a fan palm, not my favorite, but too big to pull out. The fans hang over into the neighbors yard. I found out when trimming off dead fans that those that hang across the fence have been neatly pruned flush to the fence. My Mexican flame vine/mexican love vine is either prunned to the fence or stray shoots are flung over the fence. For some reason this behavior annoys me so when the passion vine starts popping up in his yard I will be sitting on my side of the fence grinning.

Anybody else interested in runners just dmail me and they are yours- if I don't have them my daughter and her neighbors sure do and I will be happy to send some!

Let me assure you that mowing these little babies will not kill them! I love them but they are, hmmm shall we say VIGOROUS! Some might call it a thug.

Jan, yeah, I just cut off a few more fans today and LOL they were pruned flush to the fence as well. Also noticed that the passion vine has sent little babies right next to the dividing fence, made me smile.

LoL. The mention of nasty neighbor, I"VE GOTS ONE of those. Are these beauties hardy to 5b. If so I'd love a few runners. I have tons of fence to cover.

Wish my nasty neighbors yard was closer to fence. Although my luck he would like them. LOL who wouldnt. Oh Yea april's neighbor what a bore.

The remedy to the neighbor problem is to live in the middle of the "sticks" as my kids call it and not a soul bothers you!!!!!!!!! lololol I wouldn't have it any other way at this point in my life. I have lived in town for years and I too had those very unpleasant neighbors regardless of where I lived................so I sympathize with all of you. Where I am at now, I plant whatever I want, where ever I want and how ever much of it I want! lololololol My kids think that I have created a Texas jungle. (neither of my girls enjoy gardening) The down side to living way out in the middle of no where is that I have to drive 25+miles to get to the nearest garden center! I certainly stock up when I go, because around here there are no "impulse" quick trips! Have a great Monday!

Oh I would move to the sticks in a second! When we moved out here it was the sticks, not now though. Lots and lots of new development, subdivisions, stores, a mall, gas stations....I hate it. !st we stayed here because the kids were in school, now /w the kids our of school not sure what is keeping up here...yes I do know, my grandson!

Dublin, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh, april I am so sorry to hear that about your sticks changing..................I don't know what I would do if that was to ever happen (although I don't forsee it in my lifetime...lol). I understand about the kids and then the precious grandbabies, I don't blame you one bit for staying. Spoil that little one rotten and enjoy it while you can! They grow up soooooooo fast.
Lovin' life in the sticks,
Belinda :-)
