Need some help, please!

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8b)

As many of you know, we moved into this house 8 months ago. Well, here it is 8 months later, and I've still not done a thing with my landscaping! I've (we've) put in many new gardens and things are going smashingly well with them, but I've just drawn a complete blank as to what to do with the actual "drive up appeal" part of the landscaping.

Sorry I'm a terrible photographer....- you'll see one half of the house, then the other half in the other picture. The front door is right in the middle of them.

The problems are: only about 1-2 hours of sun for it, and the area is only 3 feet wide (!!!!). To expand it would mean busting out the driveway, and I'm just not ready to do that quite yet :) This would be mostly north facing.

On the right side, I'd like to keep that crepe myrtle. The indian hawthorne didn't do anything this year, and the rest is just overgrown weedy stuff that wasn't kept up. Anything is an option :) I've even toyed with the idea of doing a long narrow arbor and growing wisteria. That's my office window looking out :)

On the right side, those poor boxwoods need to be put out of their 10 year old misery. When we moved in, their roots were even showing. There aren't any gutters, so the rain hits pretty hard there, and this is the side that gets the least amount of sun.

Also, there is a "wall area". If you are facing the house, it is behind you on the right side. You can see in the picture a datura there, but that was just a volunteer and is gone now. Same deal with this area- 3 feet wide, but it gets full sun. The larger area on the other side I have covered, but I just can't figure out what to do with the datura side.

ANY advise and suggestions are more than welcome- I'm in dire need, as you can see :)
