This is awesome!
Neat Hummer Website
I have seen this before but have my doubts that it nested in very eary Febuary as the dates indicate
Really? I'm not a hummer pro but thought it was cool.
oh it is very cool but most birds don't breed until spring. Febuary 8 is not spring for anyone state side except for maybe the Fl Keys and South Texas but still not sure anything would breed that soon upon migrating back. Maybe some other folks will have some input on this
.. knolan ..
There are some hummer species that migrate and begin their mating rituals as early as the last part of January - in some of the extreme southern areas of the USA. A couple of species even stay throughout the year in some regions of California, etc.
Phoenix, AZ is one such area that several folks have documented the seemingly early mating and nesting practices of the Anna's Hummingbird. But, this seems to be quite the norm for these guys (scuse me: lil ladies). .. hee ..
Anna’s Hummingbirds, year-round residents in northern California (and throughout much of the state), may already be laying eggs — perhaps initiating courtship and/or nesting in December (!).
Allen’s Hummingbirds, which breeds from s. California to s. Oregon, begin to migrate through the Bay Area in the final week of January after spending the winter in Baja California and Chihuahua in Mexico.
Do you see any hummers in your neck of the woods? Sure hope so .. and if so: jes enjoy the lil flyin' jewels!!

Thanks Magpye!
Yes, I do see them but I just don't know the tiniest thing about them (except that I keep my feeders full and clean). I love them!
Thanks for the info Magpye. I knew they started migrating in Jan/Feb but have never seen any info about them breeding that early. I was hoping someone else would make a comment about it.
