An Interesting B'Fly

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

I had some black woolly cats come in on my bronze fennel but they didn't stay long and didn't finish their meal.

Later on some swallowtail cats came and ate the bronze fennel. They just finished in the past couple days. Well, I specifically planted the green fennel for those guys since they liked it so much last year, but they didn't touch a bit of it this year....yet.

I have a lot of orange b'flies all over the place, they are kinda small but very fast, too fast for pictures. Then I have some black and blue b'flies that look like swallowtails, but with a fan tail instead. I don't have any pictures of them either.

But I do have a picture of this, and I sure don't know what kind it is, but lovely, just the same. And not too picky since he's digging into a spent daylily.

Thank you Donna, both for the compliment and the name of the butterfly.

Molly, did the black woolly cats have vertical red or red orange bands between sections of black? If so, it could be the cat of the Isabella Tiger Moth. I found two of them here last week while pruning. I have a picture of one somewhere, but I can't locate it just now.

Art,

I was really hoping I could find a photo of that wooley bear cat. I must have deleted it or I just can't see today.

It was a solid black fluffy cat. No stripes or anything. But they didn't stay long and there were only 2 of those. I think it was a month or more ago.
