It's a Brugmansia miracle!

St. Paul, MN(Zone 4b)

Hello All.

Some of you may recall that, five weeks ago, on June 19th, I posted this picture of my two rather pathetic-looking Charles Grimaldis and asked for advice. I got a lot of it from you wonderful folks, and I learned alot.

Here they are five weeks later, after two Messenger applications and Peters 20-20-20 every second or third day. And a few prayers too.

The BEST part?!! Drum roll please.....

I noticed today that they have both Y'd and are displaying their first tiny buds! I am over the moon!

Thank you again all.

Thank you all very much for the kind comments. Know that they are sincerely appreciated. I even got accolades from "down under"!

You can be certain that I will be posting the first blooms here. I'll probably have several hundred pictures to choose from....

Thank you Dott. How kind of you! I'm already over the top - I can't imagine how I will be when I actually have flowers instead of buds!

Thank you Caren. I, too, am VERY surprised at the change in just five weeks. Perhaps my threats to add them to the mulch pile if they didn't get going helped push them along!

Thank you Kell and Judy. It's so fun to have an outlet to share gardening successes!

Sometimes those threats are what it takes, Erick. LOL

Very well done!! Now see how easy that was with just a little help from all the Brug Addicts here. LOL
I hope they cont. to set buds and bloom till first frost for you. I love CG. I just noticed this morn. my large CG is just about to have it's first bloom open sometime today. It made it through the heat wave and is about to reward me.
Thanks for keeping us posted on your success.

ahelms, it is true. My Rudbeckia "Green Wizard" looked like the dullest flower ever when it first started blooming early this spring. Looking at it one day, I announced that it was destined for the mulch pile. The very next day, the flowers started sporting this gorgeous gold band and opened more fully. I think it heard my threats!

Thank you Kin. And congratulations on your first CG bloom of the season!

What is Messinger? I need some because my Brug looks like ErickMN's before pics. I am a newby (I had never heard of Brugs until a few months ago.)

I also would like instructions on taking cuttings in case mine doesn't make the winter. It is in ground and I really don't want to dig it up. Doesn't that disturb the roots?
