Texas "Coffee" and Gardening in the AM : The Proposition

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

CLOSED. PLEASE SEE HYPERLINK AT BOTTOM OF THIS THREAD IF VIEWING MONDAY (THE FIRST DAY) , OR JUST LOOK FOR THE COFFEE CUP ICON IN THE TEXAS FORUM EACH DAY.

I've noticed a few other threads here on DG that are for a "check in, say HI, and spend a minute or twenty" to get the day started. In less than three weeks I will be teaching again, and will need something to wake me up at 5:45 in the morning!!! (I've been staying up late and sleeping until about 10 each day!!) How about you?

Is anyone in the Texas forum interested in just a "Texas" coffee/chat thread for each morning? Of course, we would love for others to drop in and say HI, but I think with discussing a lot of things--our weather, time to plant, what to plant, etc--the Texas forum would be fitting.

I'll be glad to post the header each day or the night before and "put on a fresh pot" (of coffee or hot tea!) and see who joins us!

Connie,

Sounds refreshing (can I visit, not a coffee drinker here? hehe)....WHAT rose IS that?! Goll it's gorgeous! And do tell, is it blackspot resistant for our area????

Well, I would like to chat at that time in the morning while ya'll talk about guys in speedos and such but unfortunatly I'm already at work at 5:45. Actually I'd rather not hear ya'll talk about guys in speedos and your neighborhood shirtless joggers. LOL!

EW! I don't wanna hear about that stuff either!!!! My neighborhood is quiet though so we don't see many runners.

I don't get up that early just yet either but with a baby on the way I'm sure I'll be up all hours of the night and morning. =)

Ooh,Ooh...take me, take me!

I'll be up tomorrow at 4:30 practicing my "Good Neighbor" routine....taking family across the street to airport at 5 for their dream trip to NYC! 'Don't think I'll be joining in till later, but do like the concept. Topics like...what's burning up in your garden, what have you fried with Neem oil, are those crunchy spots in the grass chinch bugs, which nursery is dumping stock......oh sorry, those are my own......
Didn't get back to you last nite. Made my favorite thing for dinner.....reservations...and we didn't get home till late. Up again and gone to lake this morning....More later

TIR...the rose is one I have that was trained into a standard before I got it and is in a large clay pot... it's the 'Charisma.' I've looked for more high and low...to no avail. I'm pretty sure I got it at my local Home Depot, and it starts out looking orange...then as it opens out you can see that the petals are yellow toward the inside with an orange tip! It's not terribly fragrant, but oh, what beauty!

I've only had it for 4 months, but no problems at all yet. And at times, it doesn't get water regularly! I only wet the foliage when I know the sun will dry it in a few minutes...and I shake off the excess water immediately, as my GM always said the drops of water act as magnifiers and will fry a hole in the leaf if the sun shines brightly on them. Hmmm?? Old wives' tale?? ha

SCOOLIE...you can always check in later and see what we had brewing... !! Yes?

BIGBUBBLES...you will always be welcome! That's cute...reminds me of when you see something you really want at a nursery....your "Me Want!! Me Want Some!" LOL

HEYo,

chiming in for my penny thought. I get off work @600am and willing to chat. That is until school starts. I register for classes this 14th and start on 24th or 23rd?. If all goes well with registration I will be driving from SA (after work) to San Marcos for class. until then, I would love a chat about gardens, gardens uses, recipes, crafty ideas for home(homemade ideas straight from your own garden or hands) and garden... I could go on but have to go to work now.

see ya

Thanks for the pic of you in your personal profile! What a great picture taken at the Round Up!! I love to have a face to connect to each name...makes it so much easier for me as I'm a "face but not name" person!!

Slept late today! But I'm up now. Usually up and out the door as soon as it's daylight enough to see. But it's cloudy this morning and not even 80 deg. yet!! Yea!!! Gave me an excuse to sleep a little later. ;) We have a good chance for rain showers today. Keeping fingers crossed.

Connie your rose is beautiful!
