Cutting not true to parent
if you don't want it I do lol. It is beautiful. Temp/humidity difference can make a difference in colors.
I think it looks like the same plant--as Donna says you will sometimes see some variation in colors, and except for the pinkish/purple part in the middle being smaller and less well defined on your flower, I think they look very much the same so I wouldn't say that it didn't come true to the parent.
i think it looks the same too. maybe subsequent blooms will have a more defined eye
I was thinking more of the wavey outside petals having a upward and out, rather than the inward and down folding of the outer edge of petals, maybe after a few blooms it will look more like the parent,it could be the week of 109* temps.having a effect on the flower when it was in the bud stage.
The first looks like Fiesta to me, notice the upturned edges of the flower, only a few kinds do this. Also the foliage is different, that doesn't change with temps like flower color does. The leaves on the two aren't the same.

I love both!!!
Kyle,I didn't even notice the difference in foliage, but your right,my foliage is 3 times the size and width,as the other one.
Would a sport be something completely diferent than the parent flower,or could it be as something as close as these two???
Like Kell I like them both as well!
Both nice, and I can't see much difference.

Tropicman, is this a cutting that you did from a plant that you have, or is this a cutting that was purchased from someone? If it's from your own plant then it could be a sport, but if it's one that you bought then it's probably a case of mistaken identity, either the seller mis-labelled it, sent you the wrong plant, or had bad information from whoever their grower was.
Hibiscus sports usually have identical foliage, just different colored flowers.
:-)
Ecrane 3,no this is a cutting I recieved in a trade from Osteole. From Larmar Arkansas, last july.It took forever to get it to root, then just about lost it a couple times thru the wintertime, then this spring it finally took off and started growing, and now coming into bloom.
I've been battling aphids on this plant really badly,as just about all my hibiscuses this year, but on such a small plant has been rough on it.Mild winters really bring out the bad insects in spring and summer, whitefly and spidermites are bad too!I was wondering about the leaves being different too Kyle, but my plant is twice the size as the picture Osteole sent me of heres, and I was wondering if the leaves would be bigger on a maturer plant?
Fiesta is notorious for being hard to root and keep going for a long time. thats all I know. Time will tell.
