My First Flower!

Wesley Chapel, FL(Zone 9a)

OK, I know it's small, but it's my first one ever.

I'd like to dedicate this to Hetty, whose patience and generosity got me involved to begin with.

Thanks, Hetty.

Ok Steve & Dave,
I'm sitting here with MY very first Plumeria cutting wrapped in a paper towel inside a baggie. Am I new enough to warrant getting a little planting advice so I can have MY very first bloom someday?

Would appreciate anything you can offer.

P.S. It doesn't even have roots, yet.

I was told to take it home, put it into some rooting hormone and plant it. I'm using MG garden soil and playsand in a 10:1 ratio. This works well for drainage. Let me know. Thanks!

P.S.S. I'm new to the plumeria forum.

Thank you Steve! And congratulations.

Gymgirl, I feel almost obligated to chime in here after getting such good press LOL.
I would just plant it in a very shallow mix, about 2-3 inches. It doesn't matter if it doesn't sit firmly inside the pot. Once it has roots you can take care of that but less of the stick in the soil means less chance of rot while it's rooting.
That is what works for me, anyway.
Good luck!

Congrats, Steve! That looks like an awesome flower!

Dave, love the Bali Whirl picture!

Gymgirl, I join Robert in welcoming you to the Plumie Forum! Please see the site that Robert gave you for directions on how to root your cutting. Also, as Robert said, please see the FAQ's sticky thread which will provide you with lots of information and links about how to root your cutting and how to get started. It's all there including fertlizer, overwintering, etc.
