Good Morning everyone~
I will get right to the point here. This bird, birds, have been nesting in my trees going on 4yrs now.
They have a lovely song. And their nests are like long tubes. They look like an oriole, but instead of the normal orange, these are beautiful dark yellow. The pics don't so them justice. They look like they have an orange hue in them, but again they are a dark beautiful yellow. I have just seen 2 of them, both the same color and acting like they was wanting to mate. They usually show up around the second week in May and stay around intill the latter part of June or the first of July.
Does anyone know what these are called?
Thanks tons in advance.
Becky
Is this a oriole or?
Boy, I sure don't know what they are but they sure are pretty!
Just checked my bird book. Think it might be a bullocks oriole. Ill keep watching thread to see if someone from your area answers. What ever it is its a beauty. Dixie
I don't think there is any doubt that it is a Bullock's Oriole. Your photos, nest description, location (Wyoming), etc. all suggest that identification.
Thanks for posting. It is always nice to view photos of birds seldom, if ever, seen in one's area.

Thanks for all the pictures. My husband used to tell me evey spring when the orioles arrived he could tell by their call. I am tone deaf and can only tell a few calls. We never did discover where they nested at. Dixie
Carried away? Never too much enthusiasm for me. I love nature and spend hours watching birds. The oriole is so pretty and they sound lovely. It is music to my ears and my soul! Thanks for your pictures, I loved every one! Keep up the great picture taking!
You guys are right that is what they are. There is all kinds of orioles here in central IL., but they do not light long enough to take a picture. We were at our camper after a wind one day and in a limb from a cottonwood tree I was cutting was a nest. I am goint to spray shilac on it and hang it on our little screened in shed out there. Wild_Willow do you keep your camera on the tripod all the time. The pics are great. Keep it up. I just wish I had time to do it. CU BEV
