What's the best way to protect bulbs against varmints? They dig up my squash seeds. I'm afraid they might dig up whatever (expensive!) bulbs I plant this fall.
Bulb protection
Put down a layer of chicken wire over the bulbs but under the soil. You don't need the real heavy wire, the thin, cheap stuff will do and is easier to cut. Critters can't dig past it and the plants just grow up through the mesh.
You will need to get something to cut the wire - wire snips or something similar.
