Alocasia 'Brian Williams'

Bessemer City, NC(Zone 7b)

I was just at my local garden shop with my cousin and noticed a tray of mixed foliage (Alocasias mostly). One was tagged "Alocasia Williams Hybrid" and resembles a small version of this http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/120454/index.html.

I also looked at the Agri-Starts site and found this http://www.agristarts.com/aloc_williamshybrid.htm .

Are these the same plant?

Same plant it seems Alocasia Brian Williams has been shortened to Alocasia williams hybrid in many cases.

Well, that's just not right, BRIAN! LOL!

Did you sell the rights for propagation?

I think a thread on marketing and protecting hybrids and so on would be of interest. Maybe you can share your experience(s).......

I live in a 7b area and plan on planting some of William's Hybrid in the spring. Anyone know if it will make it over the winters. I've checked up on it and some places say it is 7b hardy but others say 9?

Brian would be able to answer that better than I, he's in Kentucky. I know mine does well in 9b, but that's to be expected. When we have our annual 1 week of frost, I cover it, and it does well.
