This is the place! OCT 8th 12PM Wildscape at Vetrans Park Arlington!!
Name Tags - Posie and City-Syliva
Door Prize - Sheila
Food - Josephine
Plants and their set up - Mitch
here is where it would be a great help to post what you want to bring! I will start us off with a veggie tray.
It is a BOY - water, coke, tea, etc... we have been asked to not drink anything hard there so lets honor that gang.
Dallas Round Up Food and Help!!
I'll bake brownies.
I'll bring some books for door prizes and something to eat that will survive the journey.
I'll bring some cokes and chips.
I will bring a fresh fruit salad and ice.
I will be happy to do the door prizes, but I would like someone to lend a hand with the drawing, any volunteers???
Hopefully everyone can find an item that is garden / plant related; or a plant that they would be willing to bring for the drawing. It was a lot of fun in College Station this year, so we are going to try it. Please put your name on the gift, so we know who donated it.
I would volunteer to draw but then I couldn't win one...we all know how much I love door prizes. Right Sylvia? ;)
Somehow, because people don't ask me what I want probably, they just arrive with gifts; I ended up with 2 copies of Native Texas Plants by the Wasowski's. It's like brand new. I think that would make a really good door prize, no? I'll also bring a couple of plants.
Well, even if we are doing the drawing, we WILL get a chance to win a door prize. It isn't anything that would be precieved as illegal!!! lol.....So want to help me??
Sheila--you got yourself a 'hired hand'--lol
Name tags? Me? Oh mercy, those name tags at College Station is a tough act to follow. lol Where is Posie? LOL Anyway I am on it! :)
Josephine....Since this is at 12pm I should be able to come up with something Scrumptious. Yall know I love to feed the masses. lol

Thanks--I'll try to 'clean up' a little better this year. I'll get you for this Sylvia--you owe me mucho hostas that can grow in pots until my trees get bigger.
LOL!! Oh the price you have to pay for having fun! LOL!
Good nite ladies, I am again up way past my bedtime.
LOL...Deb I could not help it ... the devil made me do it! ... and I dont take good pictures ... lol
Sylvia, we already have the name tags, they are the ones they used as College Station.
Marylyn had some left over and she sent them to us, isn't she great?
Debbie, I hope we can rig the prizes so I win that book you are bringing, I love it.
Thank you for helping, you are so sweet!
ohh thank goodness Josephine .. so all we do in pin them on?
Yes, and write in the names, or let them write them in, and be sure to welcome everybody.
If you are meeting and greeting Sylvia--that means the wine coolers will have to wait until later (that's in direct revenge for posting the pic--lol).
If its not too terribly hot I will bring a home-made pineapple upside down cake.
Debbie

It is a BOY - water, coke, tea, etc... we have been asked to not drink anything hard there so lets honor that gang

bring you own - BOY (you know BYOB etc...)
great this is going great!! This looks like it is going to be a great RU this year!
I am going to have several door prizes for us just to make sure everyone gets something!
So Sylvia I am ready for a hosta if you got one extra!
Mitch may I ask where are you going to put a HOSTA? all that open sky you got out there ... not a tree in sight!
On my stoop - like Josephine... after seeing hers look sooo great out there I now know I have a spot!
I will have to think about what I will bring to eat. I am too tired to think right now. Rough day at work.
Hey Posie, long time no post!!! Glad you are going to be at the October swap.
Oh well ... ok Mitch ... You guys are going to be working me with these Hostas. I only got six to divide. I got to start making a list as its going to be about the only think I have to offer. I repotted a lot of stuff and the heat burned it up. I should have left it as it was and bought it to the swap as is.:(
I got to get some more medium and try the Fringe flower again.
Go ahead and put me down for a door prize, greek pasta salad, & plasticware.
Staci
Okay, I'm not having much luck propagating anything in this heat. Anyone else having any luck?
I don't know yet what I'll bring to eat. I like desserts. :) But, can we wait till we get closer to the time, and see what's still needed?
Also don't know what I'll bring for a door prize, but will bring something.
Somebody on the old thread suggested posting your list here, so I'm going to repost.
Things I'm *trying* to get rooted:
catmint 'Walker's Low'
pink Texas skullcap
giant blue skullcap
half a dozen kinds of low-growing sedums--Golden Carpet, Dragon's Blood, others unnamed
speedwell 'Georgia Blue'
speedwell 'Sunny Border Blue'
pink monarda
Turk's cap (seedlings are promised to Dawn, but I'm willing to try cuttings)
May Night salvia
salvias I will try if May Night is successful--greggii 'Cherry Sundae', greggii hot pink, Mystic Spires
coral-colored cape fuschia
Things I can bring IF someone says they want them:
pink cosmos seedlings (speak now before I thin them out!)
old-fashioned pink coneflower seedlings
any kind of ruellia--tall violet, tall Chi-chi (pink), Blue Shade, Katie's Blue, maybe Ragin' Cajun
(having trouble propagating 'Ragin' Cajun', but will keep trying). If anyone wants these, speak
now, please, because the tall ones are misbehaving and might go away soon.
shade coleus, various colors, rooted cuttings
gold impatiens, rooted cuttings (can do white too)
various houseplants, rooted cuttings
creeping jenny divisions
water hyssop divisions
Texas red oak seedlings
bat-faced cuphea cuttings, probably unrooted (because I can't get them to, but maybe someone
can who's better than me at this stuff)
old fashioned mullein (verbascum)--pink or lavender--no idea how to propagate these, but I just love
them, so I'd love to learn
Seeds I have;
coreopsis--Early Sunrise, Heaven's Gate, Limerock Ruby, Moonbeam
columbine--pink, Texas (yellow), Colorado (blue & white)
cypress vine
Cardinal climber
tradescantia 'Blue & Gold'
delphinium
My want list, which would really be most complete if I just said, "I love them all' (LOL):
brugs & daturas
cross vine
old-fashioned red spider lilies (any kind of lilies, but especially fall-blooming spiders)
any shade plants
sweet autumn clematis (Dawn promised to bring some)
coral honeysuckle (Dawn will bring)
lotus
any water plants
I would love some of the obedient plants, if those aren't all spoken for.
I don't remember everything that was said on the old thread. If someone asked for something that's not here, please remind me, so I can get it started.
pbtxlady - I would love some of each seed... and some of each of the ruellia (infact tall ones are great here even if they do misbehave a little!) Look over my list and see if there is anything you want...
SWEEZEL ... you are coming! Great! I cant get anything to root. I tried to divide something I had for five or six years ans the whole thing died.:(
I am bring Gardening books for door prizes, lots of them ... and food.
I plan on it. :) I was going to wait to try rooting until the heatwave let up a bit, but accidentally broke a stem of my Sedum today, so I have three pots trying to root. I can also try to divide up a few daylilies before a couple weeks before hand. Besides that, I might be empty handed. If so, it's not a big deal. It will be cool just see everyone.
