heatwave??

Wichita, KS(Zone 6a)

this heatwave has my plants looking like crappola - we hit 110 today - and have been over 100 all week-

What are you all doing to help your plants out? I feel like I should water them a little more, but don't want to over due it - do I just have to grin and bear it??

I just started a similar thread in the GH forum..."Brutal Temps." We're supposed to get T-storms and cooler temps tonight and tomorrow. SB

In the morning I give them a nice cool shower with the hose. Who doesn't like to start the day that way? It's the impatiens that are the worst, every year I say, "I'm not going to buy those", but I cave.

Wichita, KS(Zone 6a)

I have been watering all the beds for about 20 minutes with a sprinkler every day - I skipped to day to see how they would fair and they didn't like it -

They elephant ears burnt around the edges and the canna blooms closed up

Back to the watering schedule tommorrow - plus a little bit of a cooling trend (20 degrees cooler.....which make it only 90!)
