This has been the temp on my back deck for the last three days. It was
2:35 p.m. when I took this picture. There were plants on that rack, but I
had to move them to the middle under the pergola.
I even moved brug seedlings from the front porch to inside my kitchen. The
weather man said the high pressure that is causing this is short lived and
should be over by this weekend!

Heat wave in Texas!
How can you stand it? We are having a heat wave also, it is getting to about 84 to 85 and I hate it. At 120 degrees, I would never venture out. And we still drop to 50s at night no matter how hot in the day.
I hope your plants make it thru intact.
Its the same here it South Texas , so very hot and hubid !
Elva
same here in Indiana, in the high 90s and very humid,
Today we're lucky. it's "only" 86 with 60% humidity.
I feel horrible for you, Louise!
Thanks for the sympathy!
When I open the door, a blast of hot air hits my face and I hurry back inside. I did fill the bird feeder this morning before it got so hot. It is still 100 degrees at 7 and 8 o'clock in the evening when I venture out to water.
I hope the hostas and daylilies survive.
Louise
I live over the hills from Kell, and we are suppose to be up between 100-105
for the next several day's. Alot of my brugs. have tiny buds on them, and I know they will all drop, but all you can do at this point is keep everything watered good and hope for the best. Some of my brugs. in pots are really struggling.
A few weeks back, we were returning from a camping trip in Oregon. As we came through Northern Calif's inland area around Redding, it was 116. I thought that was the hottest I had ever head off, but you have sure topped that.
I was at Alden Lane last week Patricia........and I was so hot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lali had 116 degrees the other day in Calistoga. This weekend is supposed to get miserable. But no humidity to speak off. So it is dry hot.
When I was in NJ each summer, it was so humid, you didn't need to water much. That part was great because it was too miserable to be outside. Who can stand to be so wet all the time. Wet and hot. ICK!
Thank goodness we have been spared the terriable heat you are all suffering North of us. I know we are usually the ones in the deep fryer but now the heat seems to be further north. We are in the Mid 80's to 90's which is normal for us this time of year, I sure hope it dosent' get any worst. I will pray you all to get a break from this I know this has been a killer heat wave for so many.
Try and keep cool and hydrated thats about the best you can do for now....
Dee
My oh My You are so Hot down there Louise!!! Please take care of yourself and keep indoors. I'm just now trying to cool down the house before I close everything up. We are also having the Heat wave once again. Nothing like yours but we are going to be in the low 100's for the next three days....
I can't complain much after seeing your thermometer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These blooms were only two days old and I'm officially renaming it.
Re fried Pink....LOL
Keep yourself As Cool As You Can.
Kin
Kin,
I took advantage of the brug seedlings being in the house yesterday, and was able to get several of them repotted up to bigger containers with better soil, osmocote and little Epsom salts. I hope all the food didn't shock them too much. I'm so new at brugs that I'm still in the trial and error faze.
Anxiously awaiting blooms here!
Louise
Kin, boy am I learning frome this. With all the watering I not sure how much to feed them. Brugs look like they are all going to make it.
100 today BUT tomorrow 90 and all week it will stay there. We hade It.
Lou, hang in there we are tought in TEXAS, I hope you live on the TEXAS side. Joan
We are having a heat wave here too this weekend, Kin. It is going to get so hot in surrounding areas. I am so lucky I live by the Bay, but we are going to be 88 which is so hot for us. I need to go out and water to get ready.
Louise, I hope you are keeping cool. Our power went out the other day. I hope it holds for you guys in the hottest places.
Joan, you must be so warm too. I guess all you can do is water.
Dee, we are hotter than you are here in San Antonio. It was 102 deg. yesterday. It is close to 100 today. It's miserable to say the least.
Kin.............LOL......refried Pink.......does it come with salsa????
That is just toooo funny if it wasnt' so true......LOL
Yes Sylvia yall sure are, I was talking to my friend in Livingston today and it was 103 at his house. He lives right on the lake and he said the air is sooo dry and hot, it is just to much to even get out and walk.
I think we were at about 93-96 today and will have a low in the 80's. This is the hottest summer I can remember and I have been around awhile. Please everyone take care and don't over do. I go out and water but only stay a little while so I don't get overheat and sick, and it's not nearly as hot here as yall are.
Dee
It's good to hear how everyone else is coping with this unusual
weather. I think our temp has calmed down to a more normal
one - the heat index was only 97 today. It is still 94 now at 9 p.m.
It really hurt my irises. I hope they revive - lots of brown tips, wilting and color faded even tho I watered. My oxalis has retreated
into the ground but will come back. We probably will still have 6 weeks of hot weather before fall temps arrive.
My kitchen and den are full of brugs until the heat levels out.
Keep cool,
Louise
We're under a Heat Advisory here with the highs predicted to be 100-103. Memphis hit 101 which set a record.
I simply can't imagine what Tx, OK and AR have been going through!!!
My radar shows RAIN, but it isn't ... rained all around us.
Judy
Well DG must be having some problems unable to get on here and keep getting cut off. I will try one more time...LOL
We had a temp of 104 here yesterday!!!!!!!!! Miserable. It's 3am and 82 degrees out still.
I made some huevos rancheros on the hood of my truck to go along with the re fried pink and salsa ... Dee....LOL
I hope everyone keeps cool and the heat doesn't damage too many of you or your plants.
Ummmm sounds like you would do well in this Tex-Mex state......Kin........LOL...
I know this has been a bummer of a summer with this terriable heat but at least our dear Floridians have been spared the Hurricans so far. I just hope and pray August and September will be so kind to all us Costal folks.....
So I guess it could be worst.
Dee
I live up North and it is supposed to be 103 on Sunday and Monday.
It is still super hot over 100 and very humid ! It is hard to breath when you go outside for anything . I have heart problems and get real short of breath when I am out watering my plants. my DH helps by doing all he can with the sprinkers leaving them on 24 hours at a time.
good thing we have a water well.even than my bill is high
Elva
We're supposed to break our heat records today. This is getting old already!
We were 110 here yesterday and that is what it is suppose to be again today. Then forcasted 105 tomorrow and 97 plus all next week. I had a couple smaller brugs in pots fry yesterday.
Patricia
Hey, folks!
The weatherman has predicted 40% chance of rain for us Sunday,
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday! I hope that he is right this time!
Welcome news, indeed - just so there's no hail with it. Crazy weather we've been having this year.
My nice healthy brug seedlings are not going back out just yet - I
want blooms to post, sooner or later-
Louise
Louise,
we got the rain not much but it was rain and the tem. drop to 90 but you can not go breath out there Hope it comes your way. Joan
Joan,
Good for you! Keep wishing it this way!
Take good care of those brugs 'cause I look forward to
cuttings in the fall. Maybe, an exchange, if mine do well.
Louise
