I am growing some this year too! I have a crimson colored one that I really like and of coarse my Teddy Bears. Sunflowers give you so much for just a little care! I know your kids are excited about them!

Beautiful sunflowers, lovesdaylilies!

I tried sunflowers this year for the first time, but wasn't successful. They grew too tall, too fast, and despite being supported, every little breeze was just too much for them. Oh, well. Maybe next year I'll have better luck.

stephanie they do tend to blow over easy don't they. they fall over easily because they have shallow roots. i have been lucky and only had one blow over. maybe try staking before they get too tall. this is my second time trying them and i wasn't very successful the first time either.

I did have them staked (guess I should have said that instead of supported). But we had a couple of bad storms, and the fragile stems just got bent over too many times, and couldn't recover.

If at first you don't succeed... Right?

I'm definitely going to ty again next year.

Love your Sunflowers Kelly :)) I did not grow any this year but the few years before grew several types from seeds I got on Ebay. I plants them so they would come up and look at me in the window while I was in bed or in my wheel chair. It was so cool some looked right in my bedroom window when most often the flowers face the sun they were looking at me and smiling :)) I spend a lot of time it bed it was so wonderful !
Thanks for sharing them :))
