Can anyone confirm that this is a Grape Vine Hawk Moth Caterpillar. He is huge - about 3.5ins long and as fat as a mans little finger. He is currently eating the leaves on my grape vine, and extremely well camoflaged! As he is alone and the grapes are harvested he can enjoy his meal, but how big will he get? Will he pupate and hatch this year or overwinter? Are they common in Texas? I've never seen a caterpillar this big before!
