I have a Basjoo, one of those dwarf red ones and a Velutina (sp?), all are doing well but none of them are edible. DH is fussing about wanting fruiting bananas. What would be the best tasting banana for the 8b/9a area?
Another nana question
Ardesia, I was in your same shoes. Had non-edible varieties so early this spring I bought 1 Manzano, and 1 Ice Cream. I also got in trade 1 Ele Ele. Too early to fruit but I'm on my way. All three are supposed to be great tasting. go to http://www.webebananas.com and see for yourself.
BTW, I bought my two from wellspring. they sell the little bitty plants for $4-5. They require TLC for a while, but for the price, I don't mind giving them extra attention. My fruiting ones are all about 1-2 ft tall, and all three were transplanted inground in April. For feedback on wellspring, ck the GWD
hope this helps, now go get some!

Also check on Raji pura, ititerans, kru, and sikkimensis
Oh my, now I have several to find places for. Ice Cream, Manzano, Raji puru and Kru all sound delicious.
Thanks for that kink, there was lots of good information there. a
