Hi! I just got this email from the Washington Gardener yahoo list serv and thought you all in the DC region might be interested.
- Amy,
Bethesda, MD
Our next Open Garden, this Friday, 7/21, will feature local garden artists selling:
Leaf jewelry and concrete leaf impressed tables, birdbaths and wall art for the garden.
If you've been thinking of coming to one of our Open Gardens this summer, this is the one. Free garden advice, cool drinks to quench your thirst, and much more.
During Washington Gardener magazine's Open Garden hours you can sign up for subscriptions or renew in person. You can also buy back issues, current issues, and gift subscriptions. Additionally, we will have various plants for sale.
Please spread the word to any gardeners you may know.
The hours are Friday afternoons from 3:00-6:00 pm starting May 26 and running through August 18. The Open Garden is rain or shine.
We are located at 826 Philadelphia Ave (Rt. 410), Silver Spring, MD. We are an 15-minute walk from both the Silver Spring and Takoma Park metro stops. Also, several Metro and Ride-On bus routes pass nearby. If driving, please pull in our driveway off of Fenton Street - this is directly across from the Public Storage building.
Sincerely,
Kathy Jentz

Has anyone read "Washington Gardener?" Is it worth subscribing to?
Harry -
I have read and subscribed to the Washington Gardener mag and love it! Only source around for truly local garden growing info to DC/MD/VA and the interviews with people like Andre Viette, Wolfgang Oehme, etc. are invaluable. I know I'll be saving my issues and referring to them for years.
I was referred to it by some other garden friends who raved about it.
You can subscribe via the web site -www.WashingtonGardener.com - It is only $18 a year (less than my last meal out!) so worth a try if you are a local DC region gardener.
After you get it - let me know what you think. In the current issue (Sept/October) I'm drooling over the fig recipes. I need to run out and plant one now.

Thanks!
