Useful Hoya Taxonomy

Chowchilla, CA(Zone 10a)

Hi, all.

Since I think life is always better when we share our knowledge freely ...

I just found this PDF file that should prove useful for those who want to obtain more in-depth taxonomic information on Hoyas that originate in China.

http://flora.huh.harvard.edu/china/PDF/PDF16/hoya.pdf

It is a little "scientific," but if you access that Flora of Australia Flowering Plant Glossary link located in the "hoya related info" sticky, you can use that glossary to wade through the elitist prose and score yourself some excellent info!

Here is another super-sciency piece of literature on the DNA sequencing and adaptation of the hoya. More stuff to muck through, but good to figure the relationships between the plants. Also, good discussion of the symbiotic relationship the hoya has with ants.

WOW Ms K, Awesome publications!
I did a skim through and will download and save. Can we please get this added to sticky threads? Love the parts about locations where the plants were found!

Whatever happened to some of the named hoya in these publications? Names I have never, ever heard before. This is a must read.

Thank you!

WOW...small world. I just got that link from DL today to help me ID my aff. carnosa...haven't had a chance to work on it.

I am reminded of - when my son asked me how babies were made. I tried to keep to the questions and not get off on tandems... hoyas are another subject hard to keep to the central point...eh?

Gotta check out the second link...OY Vey...my brain's gears are starting to mesh....
