One of the calves got out this afternoon. I got a great pic of her nibbling the crab weeds in my backyard neighbor's watermelon patch. She was a good girl...she left the melon vines alone and just ate the weeds! Then Mom started calling her and she walked up and down the fence line, mooing back, trying to find the gap in the fence that had allowed her to escape. Next time I see the farmer driving down the access road behind my fence, I'm gong to ask him how I can contact him. This is the thrid time one or mroe of his cows have escaped. I don't want to call the police for fear he will get into trouble for allowing his livestock to escape....but no one seems to be concerned enough to call him when the girls get out. Of course, it might have something to do with the feud that the folks on the road behind us have going with the farmer...but dogone it, they need to set aside their differences for the sake of the animals. This little girl was really upset when Mom started calling her and she couldn't get home....
