Question about Lyme disease

Frederick, MD(Zone 6a)

DDIL's Husky, Smoot, has been diagnosed with lyme disease - this is the 5th time in 4 years. We've done everything we can to treat the yard. They live in a very, very heavily wooded area with lots of deer so it's next to impossible. She uses Frontline every 30 days but Smoot still gets it. It's beginning to make her lame :(

The vet has always put her on doxycycline for 4 weeks, but today she said it won't work on her any longer and wants to vaccinate her.....she and I are both perplexed. Why would you vaccinate a dog that already has the disease? The vet said there are some recent studies that show this works. We are skeptical. Has anyone ever heard of such a treatment?

Thanks everyone for your answers.
