Christina, I was just at your website, and I have to say its allways stunning to go and see. I know that you were complimented recently on the forum for it, and I add mine.
I noticed that your plants are allways in quite small pots. Do you think Swedes may have more patience than most westerners? Maybe that is one of the secrets of your well-known skill in growing Hoyas (along with your long days). Would you mind telling us what you potting schedule is (as to pot size)?
Also, where do you get those nifty trellises you have in most of your pots?
Sorry if you've allready talked about those things on the forum.
Thanks, Mark
Questions for Christina
Mark, thanks for the compliment about my website. I think some of your questions may have answers somewhere in older threads, but here goes:
Yes, I do have most big hoyas in quite small pots. Most of them are 4-6 inches in diameter but 6-8 inches deep, if that makes any sense... I want them a little deeper so that I can have big leca pebbles on the botton to help keep the trellises steadier. AND it gives air to the roots and if I over water a little the water stays in the pebbles.
Sweden is a long country and it's up north that they have really long summer days and even midnight sun, but also really short winter days with only a few hours daylight. I'm in the very south of Sweden and we have more "normal" daylight, so I can't say that I benefit from longer days here.
The trellises I use is a model that is not made any longer. When I found that out I spent hours finding more and I should say I'm okay for a while. The one I use most is 65 cm high and the size smaller is 56 cm high. I know the guy who makes them, but they sold too little of them to continue making them.
I'd say that patience and a lot of TLC is my "secret" for getting my hoyas to thrive and occationally bloom.
If there's anything else, just ask!

"occasionally bloom," Christina???? Oh, you are too modest, my dear. Your hoyas are beautifully blooming all the time! I am, naturally, green with envy!

It is really good!!!
Christina...what did you do with the pictures of the different rooms with the hoyas in the windows? I couldn't see it anymore on your website. I just loved those pics.
Marcy
They are right there under the big window: http://www.myhoyas.com/Where%20do%20I%20keep%20all%20my%20hoyas.htm (I have made a lot of changes and will upload new photos as soon as I find the time to sort out which ones!)
