Another Shot of Texas Star
Very pretty I love them.
I just love those little plants, the flowers are so unusual and pretty.
Very pretty. I have another one that is getting ready to bloom any day now.
They are delightful... Mine are a bit stunted in heighth this year. I am sure due to the drought but have been blooming since mid June.
I am waiting on mine to bloom too, how tall does it have to be?
Mine is only 18 ". I am told the shrub can grow to 6 feet tall
mine is as tall as Caraboof ....
Yes I have seen the white ones in other people's gardens. I have to have some white ones to go with my red. I've had a hard time finding an online source that has the white so I may have to order seeds.

Have you found a source for the seeds? Ecolage has the plants.
I wonder if they will come true from seed, and maybe that's why you don't find it.
We shall very soon find out. The seedlings from my plant's seeds now have buds.

All right!!!! I can't wait to see!!!
I'm anxious to see the dried seed pod(s) on our white one....hopefully,...dmj will tell us YES! (the whites are true to the parent!) in the near future!
Good luck to all of us!
You know the white's really have different growth pattern than the reds. They are much more multi-branched than the red variety too.
No I haven't found a place that has the seeds. I looked at Ecolage. Gosh they are so expensive there. By the time I paid s/h it would probably run close to $30. I think I'll keep looking for the seeds.

Joshua's Native Plants in the Heights has the plants..$5.99 both red and white
Aw shucks! I don't live anywhere near there. Guess I'll have to settle for seeds when I find them. ;)
Debbie, did your white Texas Star seedling open up yet? and did it come true from seed?
I have been wondering.
Josephine.
Great minds think alike! :~) I sent Debbie a Dmail yesterday askin' the same question! I'll let her answer you, Josephine.

Hello Debbie!!! I really would like to know.
Josephine,...I didn't want to steal Debbie's thunder....the news is good though! Maybe she will read this thread soon.
Oh Great! thank you for letting me know.
Note entry into PlantFiles:
White version of our beloved Texas Star Hibiscus. The seeds from this cultivar do indeed, for the most part, bloom white. A few red are found, but they are easy to tell apart long before they bloom. The growing habits and leaves of the Alba variety are different from the red. The red variety leaves have a red tinge to the stems and leaves. The Alba variety does not. My experience has been that the Alba variety has much more side shoots, and thus more flowers, than the red variety.
Thank you Debbie, so maybe you can save us some seeds, Please?
Josephine.
yes; you can bet I'm saving the seeds.
All right!!!! I will trade you my last born for them.
I am going to get me an Alba too ... I am still waiting for the red to bloom.
okay debbie what is it going to take to finnagle some white seeds from you? hehehehe
I have 4 red coming up and looking healthy but adding white would give them all the pizzaz I think they would need.lol
Just let me know what it takes.
