I did not plant this, it's at the edge of the woods on my property. What is it? Looks like morning glory, but I've never planted it before, so I can't say for sure.
What is this? Just found growing wild this morning
Yes, that is a morning glory.... if you post your picture on the 'Morning Glory' thread, someone will ID it for you. Beautiful!
Ipomoea cordatotriloba.

Is it invasive?
They form a tuber, so they are a perennial in warm zones. They also spread by seeds, and can set runners...not like passiflora, but runners all the same.
Once they get going, they are had to get rid of because of the tuberous roots...they go pretty deep, and rip when you pull them, leaving bits that will re-grow.
They are very similar to bindweed, except they have a larger, and different colored flower.

I guess being on 5+ acres it's Ok right?
That is entirely up to you, of course... Ü
It is a pretty permanent plant, so be sure you like it. They are quite reliable and although they are sort of a weed, they bloom in the hottest part of summer, when nothing much else is blooming, and can be a welcomed site.
Ladyborg!!...That is a native Texas Morning glory...I have them constantly coming up all over my Gardens..I see them on chain link fences out here in the country...they are everywhere and yes they reseed like mad!!.Last year one grew up into my Climbing Rosa "Teasing Georgia" last year..I have been pulling seedlings up like mad..now I have another wild one the birds musta brought ...people actually buy the seeds for this one...LOL....Heavenly Blue Morning Glory..
Jeanne in Texas I am one of those people who buy seeds for Heavenly Blue. I love it and I have never had it reseed. I wish it would, Grandpa Ott's reseeds but not HB.
I am one of those people who buy those seeds too. I could only wish to have it just showing up in my yard!!
I buy the seeds and planted them, and a few grew, but no blooms. I think that they are beautiful! Quite a nice surprise, although I understand the concerns about invasive plants. I think that wisteria is so beautiful, unfortunately, it's destructively invasive and I have to dedicate hours every week to trying to erradicate it as it simply will not die (I'm absolutely certain that the only things to survive a nuclear holocaust would be the cockroaches and wisteria).
