My First 'Blue River'

Franklin, NC(Zone 6b)

Look what greeted me when I stepped out my front door this morning. It was about 6 a.m. and everything was all fresh and dewy. I can't believe how the flash brought out the texture. Wow!

Oh Oh, another one for my 'have to have it" list. How tall does that one get?

Franklin, NC(Zone 6b)

It's a hardy hibiscus that grows 6 to 8 feet tall. It's at over six feet now and the flower was right in my face.

Edited for a name correction in the subject line per Dave.

oh my what a beautiful pure white flower. It is awesome

I wish it was as awesome when I came back for lunch. The poor thing was all freckled with thrips. I'm glad I caught it at the "magic moment" when everything was perfect.

Where did you get it?

Franklin, NC(Zone 6b)

It was from a local nursey in Sylva, NC. I think it used to be available at Park Seed, but I didn't see it on their site this year.

I looked around on the Internet and it's readily available as 'Blue River II" from several sources. It's propagated from cuttings, so you'll have to get live or dormant plants.

Love that Blue River... I had one plant with 5 open flowers this morning. Took this shot with a hardy red in the background.
