I've moved to Tallahassee, FL in the couple of years and this summer I've had a feeder up since March and only seen one hummer in my neighbor's yard and he says that's the only one he has seen too. Where are they? My father lives in North AL and has 10+ and has had to fill his feeder every other day since May. I have lots of their favorite flowers and nothing not a one. Have I gone too far south and out of Hummer territory?
I'm moving back to AL if I don't see a Hummer soon!
Hi! Im outside of Clearwater and I just saw my first Hummer about a week ago. Ive seen him 3 or 4 times since then and always on my "Black and Blue"salvia.

I lived in Lauderdale for 27 years, never saw a hummer. I just saw my first one here last Saturday evening and again this morning.
But I expected to see them here, it's out in the country. Maybe he was late coming here because there is not a pathway of food to my yard. As far as I can tell, no one out here is gardening, they just mow the weeds. I'm hoping he will tell his friends, and they will tell their friends.

asafla...glad to hear he likes your black and blue b/c I have some to, I love it as a flower and am even happier to learn that hummers like it. I'll keep my fingers crossed, and maybe I'll see a few.
