The monkey had been sneaking around, looking in the windows of my house. He spotted 3 trays of AV plantlets under lights in the basement, then he noticed the shelves packed with new arrivals in the morning room, and then he swung up to the back bedroom window and examined the crowded plant stand upstairs. When he saw the mailman arrive with the box of AV leaf pots I just bought from Allison, he went into shock and fell right out of the pear tree in a fit of startled jealousy.

ummmm, ok, I guess this is one of those "old chestnuts" that I don't know (or more accurately, can't remember). Why *did* the monkey fall out of the tree? Did Joanne have the "right" answer, or was she being flippant?
