Hi!
Do I sow the seeds directly in a 4 inches pot or do I use a flat and then transplant them to a pot. How many seedlings go into a 4 inches pot?
thank you
How to sow chives?
My chives fling their seeds around and sow themselves, LOL. You can do it either way. If you sow them in a seed tray, sow the seeds thickly in a row so you can clump transplant to pots. DeBaggio says he has good luck transplanting all of the "untransplantable" herbs like chives and dill, as long as they are clump transplanted and allowed time to fill a small pot with roots before being set out into a larger container or into the garden. If you're direct sowing, I'd put at least a dozen seeds into a 4 inch pot, and 2 dozen wouldn't hurt.... you'll want to start snipping them asap anyway, and you can always thin them a little if need be.
(Hah. You knew I'd be quoting DeBaggio again!)
LOL!!!
