I bought a Dramm Syphonject™ a bit ago and wanted to share my experience with it.
I am not affiliated with Dramm or their products in any way, nor are any of my family or friends, so I'm not trying to promote any one's product for profit, but think this is one of those garden time-savers that is so helpful when you're trying to fertilize everything (outside gardens, not inside house plants) with any regularity.
It's a simple contraption really. You mix a measured amount of fertilizer with water, insert the Sypnonject hose into the fertilizer/water mix and attach it to the hose bib, then attach your hose and water your plants like normal. I works much like the miracle grow hose-end fertilizer thing but with much more consistency.
At first it might seem complicated, but it's not. I use a 5 gallon bucket from HD, add some warm water to dissolve the miracle grow and then fill 'er up the rest of the way with regular water. The dilution rate will depend on your water pressure. (with a 5 gallon bucket of concentrated fertilizer/water, I watered my entire greenhouse and all of my gardens, pots, lawn etc. and had some to spare (did not use MG on the veggies as we prefer organic).
For my water pressure, I use the basic 1:16 that the directions recommend. So if I normally use one measured green scoop of MG per gallon of water (referring to the green scoop that comes with MG), I would use 16 scoops for one gallon or 80 scoops for the whole 5 gallon bucket.
Worked much better than the MG sprayer which does not deliver a consistent dilution of fertilizer. They're not expensive, I googled them and found them from $8.99 to 11.99, but well worth the price for the time saved mixing batches and hand watering with a bucket or watering can.
Want to share a nifty garden thing
Here's a link to the Dramm site where you can watch the video on how to use it. http://www.dramm.com/html/main.isx?sub=76
This site has a better shot of how it is used http://www.rittenhouse.ca/asp/product.asp?PG=1507
I have heard of this before with great reviews. I will have to get one now since you give it a thumbs up too. So did you have to count out 80 scoops? I can't count that high.
LOL, no, I did 16, then16, then 16... LOL. I should just measure out 16 into a measuring scoop and see how much it is.
You know who told me about it? Margaret!! And if she says it's good, you know it is!
And how do you know what your water pressure is?
you can get a devise that attaches to your hose to determine the water pressure. I just assumed average water pressure is what I have and therefore used their 1:16 directions.
the syphonject 16 to 1 ratio is VERY convenient
there just happens to be 16 tablespoons per cup
soooooo
a tblsp per gallon becomes a cup per gallon with the syphonject
Dick
See, we need you Dick. You are so smart. LOL
My Croc shrunk for the left foot. What's up with that? You would think the right one would've shrunk as well. Two different materials?
They are great for mudding around and very lightweight despite the shrinkage.
Did you leave one in the sun? I did and both shrunk just a wee bit. I was reading here elsewhere on DG about putting them in the oven and then form fitting to your feet, did you do that when you got them? I didnt but they are a great shoe despite the bit of shrinkage.
oh, and what color did *you* pick?
Yes, I left them out in the sun but only one shrunk which I found odd. I just threw them out but may go buy some more. I didn't pick the color out (drab green) since they were a birthday gift from my sister in law. Was there directions with yours?
You know, I dont remember if there were or not, I was so tickled to have purple shoes that I could get away with wearing that I never bothered reading the tag. I went to the web site and didn't see anything about heating them up, just some info on the strap and how to 'stretch' it so it isnt shoving your foot into the croc.
Ok, so if you get a new pair what color would you want?
p.s. did you post more Thailand photos anywere for us to peek at?
Not sure about the color but there was an article about them today in the Buyer's Guide in the local newspaper plus I noticed L.L. Bean has some imitations for $20 (they call them coastal clogs).
I posted some fern pictures in that forum (there is one picture with some begonias in the foreground).
Did you say the Buh Gon Ya word, ...running to the ferns now.... (wait, stopping to throw my super purple crocs on for traction!!)
What, plain purple clogs?!!
Mine are yellow with red lady bugs! There's some stylin' in the garden!

I posted this on another thread :
My son, looked down at me (not hard to do since he's 6'4") raised one eyebrow and said" You're not wearing those in public are you?" I told him I was going to come visit him on his job site, bring him his lunchy poo!"
ROTFL! too cute! If i'm not sloging in the clogs, I go 'Wilma Flintstone' - shoes off! Not very lady like, I know, but what can ya do?
How about Kell's shoes! http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/605342/ - go Wilma, go Wilma, go Wilma!
I hope you have a big wide brimmed garden hat to go with those lemon yellow's!!
I though I was gettin' all fancy with purple. You know it's every girl's dream to have pink or purple shoes to ballet around it, Well this is *sorta* like that, I do my fair share of garden-boogie in the purple one, but only when no one is watching! LOL
i just learned more about measurements :-)
not only is there 16 tblsp per cup
but there is 16 cups per gal
so the 16 to 1 ratio is really easy to use
if your water pressure is sufficient to use the 16 to 1
Dick
Thanks Strever! BTW, where is Hiouchi? Are you taking part in this heat wave?
oh yes we are having a heatwave :-)
it got up to 77 yesterday & it is already 75 today
Hiouchi is a hamlet on the Smith River in the Calif
just north of Crescent City where the Redwoods meet the ocean
several miles south of the Oregon border

Dick
LOL, laughing not at you, but at how much I wish we would just cool down to 77! High 90's in the house last night, low 80's this morning. Already roasting at 108.
Here's how hot it was driving home from San Francisco yesterday.
You could just watch the guage rise like this
Golden Gate Park 80º
Drive across GG Bridge 75º
Less than one mile from Bridge going north 80º
4 miles from GGB 97º
Novato 115º
Petaluma 107º
Santa rosa 103º
Napa Valley 113º
It was insane! Not much better today!
NOTE: Kids don't try this at home! - (taking photos while driving!)
P.S Sound like a super vacation spot too!
Lauri
tourism is the major commerce here now
use to be logging, then fishing, which is still pretty big
i think they catch 90% of Calif's dungeness crab here
we're also the easter Lily capitol of the world just 4 miles down river :-)
come up & visit when Kell comes, lots of things to see & do
Dick
Laurie, do you recall what you read about how to stretch the Croc strap? I went to the site but found nothing about it. I have two pairs and both have straps that push my feet forward to the point of touching the toe.
Tussee
Here ya go Tussee

read the last paragraph.
Thank you, Laurie. I'll work on my crocs tomorrow. I'm a shoe nut so liking ugly crocs in bright brassy colors is most unusual for me. Still getting use to looking down and seeing lots of color and massive feet, but they sure feel good.
Tussee
Well look who made it over here......Tussee! Hi Lady!!
Hey Dick, I was telling Patrica about your incredible house and it being on a beautiful river for fishing. Can you post some pictures of it for her? I told her I wanted to go look at it for retirement and Tom wouldn't.
Tussee, I just push the strap forward. I haven't done anything to the strap though I did try stretching it a bit, mine didn't give easily so I didn't keep fiddling with it. BUT I did look to get a second pair I lov emine so much.
I'm leaning toward the lime green.
One thing I don't advise is picking black berries in them. Darn thorns from the old dry canes tend to go right on through! Ouch, learned that one the hard way!! LOL.

Hey Kell! I found some needed advice on my Crocs but my begonia 'need' list has expanded. I've grown them for years but only bought them from around here; mainly from our museum greenhouse. Each spring they have maybe 10 varieties for sale so if something new pops up, I buy it. Now, I've got to get busy and do some googling to find my 'needs'. At least I have not found spider mites on them - spider mites hit my garden hard. I have never had a mite problem in the garden until this year.
