This is one of my seedlings that is now 5 ft tall with lots of hail damage. Should I remove the damaged leaves, or cut the top off, or what? Please help. Thanks. John
Hail damage
Hi John,
Sorry about your hail damage, we had a devastating hail storm early this year, that damaged everything.
Anyway, what ever you do, DO NOT cut the top off. It will greatly delay the flowering of the plant. Now concerning the damaged leaves, even though they are not pretty to look at, they are still making food for the plant. So I would leave them until they start to yellow, then take them off the plant.
In the mean time just water and feed as you normally would. Hopefully you will get to see this seedling bloom before ol' jack frost comes along.
Thank you David. I baby'd this thing all winter I would hate to lose it. John
Oh John, too bad about the hail. It must be odd to get ice pellets in summer raining down on you.
I am sure your brug will do great as David has said. I see you have a great looking EE too there. Mine are causing me such trouble! Yours looks so halthy, I am envious.
Thanks Kell, Yes the ears I over wintered in my cellar and moved them this spring, planted them in almost pure compost. They are over 6ft tall and the leaves are over 3 1/2 ft long. I posted a photo on the Tropicals forum. This is my first attempt at compost and I love the results. John
