Pink Daylily

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Do any of you folks have a daylily that blooms true pink in zone 9a? I've tried several including Barbara Mitchell, Millie Schlumpf, Dublin Elaine and others but these are beige for me in Houston's high heat and humidity. I REALLY NEED a true pink, preferably an evergreen. I had asked this question on the daylily forum, and got a few suggestions but not from anyone close by, so I'm asking my Texas garden buddies! I appreciate any suggestions y'all have for me.

Yes I do. DL My Girl comes to mind. But its first year was a great disappointment. It bloomed in this yucky, peachy, non-descript color; I was ready to toss it. Glad I didn't. The second and subsequent years the flowers bloomed in the expected shade. You will find that with DLs, you can't go by how they perform the first year. I like to call it the "first year uglies". Not all DLs do this but I've learned to expect little the first year.

I think soil may affect the coloring, but not so much that a pink will come out yellow! (unless somebody just sold you the wrong variety, which happens)

BTW, there is an incredible DL coop going on, ck it out. There are some nice pinks.

I planted Barbara Mitchell, Fairy Tale Pink, Chorus Line, Scintillation in Pink, and Shirley's Dream. Most are on their first or second season as I've just fallen for the pinks. Barbara Mitchell is now blooming for the second time this summer - so that's my fave. Bright direct sun until mid afternoon. Wonder why yours are beige? Curious...

Did you get it at a box store? They are often tissue culture and do not bloom the right color. .. just a thought.

All of mine are ordered from Oakes Daylily. I just love that company. Everything I get from them is very large, healthy plants. On a reorder once, I had mentioned that some of mine that I had planted the year before had died and they replaced them without my asking. I didn't expect them to do that, was only saying I was trying that particular lily again. Great company.

Then the color being that far off is very strange. I would email them with a pic and see what they thought. I have never bought from them before they are a bit on the high side price wise for my daylilies but I have heard that they have great service so they might be able to help you.
